caring jenna, love place, caring olya, great prices, much more expensive facial, nice olia, really expensive treatment
Small, Personal, Owner-Operated Skincare Salon.
I have been here twice for a facial, and was very pleased both times. The owner has an expert and gentle touch. She immediately assessed my needs and listened to me. She did not attempt an "upsale," and although she gave me a sample of her skincare line, I did not feel at all pressured to purchase anything.
The basic facial is $80--very affordable and as good as much more expensive facials I have had. After my last visit, I made an appointment for two months following, and plan to continue regular treatments with her. This is *not* a luxury spa. It is pretty basic--a small reception area and several treatment rooms. It appeared to be very clean (and I am a bit OCD when it comes to that). To me, it is a perfect place to receive regular skin maintenance treatments.
Only Place to Waxed in LA.
I've been going to Gentle Journey for almost 2 years and I will never go anywhere else. Olia and Jenna are so nice and good at what they do, why should I? The prices are great, the service is amazing, and the new office is beautiful. They both very professional but quite personable as well, so that before you know it you are done! They also do skin care and I am looking to have a facial in the near future.
They are on Wilshire and 7th and you need to check them out!
Great Bikini Waxing!. This place is so great! Honestly, I had been getting terrible bikini waxes down the street...I didn't know any better. And then I stumbled upon Gentle Journey and realized that the experience of waxing doesn't have to be horrible. Olya and Jenna are so great, so caring and gentle that you literally forget you're being waxed. Every time I go in there I end up getting into great conversations with them, laugh alot, and before I know it, the wax is over. Good prices, not painful AND they do facials and such too. Parking is a cinch across the street. So great. Definitely check them out!
Note New Location - 7th and Wilshire. I've had great waxing done here. Don't have much to add to other reviews except to note that they've moved to 710 Wilshire Blvd., #410. I wrote it in to Citysearch but they haven't changed it.
I love this place.
I love this place. I generally just get my waxing done here, although I've had a facial too. Both Larissa and Olya are very friendly, understanding estheticians and I don't feel at all intimidated coming here. We even have a laugh while they're doing my brazilian wax! It's the best waxing I've had in LA, and they pay good attention to detail. I have to say I've never had a painless wax, so I'm not going to pretend that's the case here, but it doesn't hurt more than it should! My facial was good, but I've only had a couple so don't have much to compare it to. Definitely worth a go though as they swear by their skincare line.
Their prices are very fair too. I pay around $80 for 3/4 leg and brazilian wax including tip. I also find that they are fair when I go there regularly - they charge less when they have less work to do (if you know what I mean!).
I'm not too fussy about the layout of the salon. I'd prefer slightly more informal surroundings, friendly treatment and reasonable rates over a stuck up, snotty, intimidating and expensive spa any day!
I visited this establishment a couple of times so that I wouldn't base this review off of one bad visit. Not surprisingly, I was disappointed again.
First, hair grows in many different directions, which the aesthetician either didn't care or didn't know about. Her inability to judge that aspect caused painful red bumps on my bikini area, even after daily exfoliating.
Second, the layout of the facility is not condusive to privacy. The main waxing room faces the outdoor reception area. I had to hide behind the table while the aesthetician walked in and out of the room so no one would see me ready for a bikini wax. Though she did try to minimize the fear by quickly opening and closing the door, it's still unnerving to hear a man boom about outside, hoping no one sees you bare nekked on the table (regardless of which direction your private parts are facing) when the aesthetician walks in.
All in all, though the staff was completely nice, I would not return to this establishment.
Least Painful Bikini Wax EVER!.
This place does a bikini wax that is practically pain free -- no kidding!! I have very sensitive skin, and I was totally fine. (She seems to be the only waxer in LA that acknowledges that, yes, waxing can be painful, and she is able to make it much less so!)
I agree with the previous review that the layout of the suite is not the best, but it's not like your private areas are facing the door or anything.
I HIGHLY recommend this place for waxing! I am DEFINATELY going back!
My first Brazilian wax. I was nervous about getting Brazilian wax for the first time because I heard 'painful' stories about the process. I found Gentle Journey on City Search, and after reading a user review and visiting the salon's website, I decided to give it a try. And I'm glad I did!!! I found the process to be truly gentle and I experienced very minimal pain. My esthetician, Larissa, made sure that I was comfortable throughout the process. She was very detail-oriented and did a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend this service to everyone, and I will go back to Larissa for my subsequent waxing... Oh, and the price is very reasonable, too!
Editorial Review. Santa Monica day spa offers custom facials, hair removal, eye care, body treatments, microdermbrasion. Exclusively uses Germaine de Capuccini products.
It didn't hurt!. For the first time in MY LIFE, my bikini wax didn't hurt, no skin tore off, and it was a quick and really well done job!
