In Short Since opening its first diner in the 1940s, this restaurant has developed into one of the most popular West Coast franchises, claiming industry innovations such as the drive-through window, partial-service dining rooms and their iconic Six Dollar Burgers--a line of oversized, sit-down restaurant-style hamburgers with Angus patties. Other hearty options abound, including steak-and-egg breakfast burritos, crispy chicken sandwiches and chili cheese fries to supplement standbys like onion rings and shoestring potatoes.

Pushed back off Santa Monica Blvd, this particular Carl's has a dimly lit parking lot and their staff was a bit rude. It doesn't get very crowded the few times I've been here; but if you have to have Carl's, there are other ones not too far away.
