We started taking our pet to Santa Monica Pet Center from a referral, however he no longer takes his pets there and I now know why. When we first went I thought the charges a bit excessive, however Dr. George was really great. I even gave them positive reviews "THAT THEY REQUEST" with emails. After three visits, also referring to them one friend with 3 dogs, and one fellow dog lover who just asked us who we use as a vet. I received yet another email from them offering 20% off my pets teeth cleaning for the month of February which is normally $450.00 + any extras, which I have now found out is actually about 20-25% less at most other clinics normal prices.. It's actually still on there site. I totally forgot, but thought as a good customer who also gave good referrals for them, that they would let me purchase it on March 1st. One day late. Well I was wrong. I than asked to speak to the manager Kristen, who flatly refused, and further more had the audacity to tell me that if I wanted the copy of my pet's records that she would CHARGE me for them!!. I could not believe it. I actually brought them the files a couple month earlier from our old vet. This is my property and I wanted it back. I called back and asked to speak to Dr. George, thinking he would for sure understand my issues with this. He total apologized, but he was not the owner and really had his hands tied. He stated he is an employee. I then to my absolute astonishment discovered that the owner was none other than Kristen the so called office manager! Now I understand why they sell you all kinds of tests and other nonsense. Needless to say we are NEVER going back, and I have also told my friend about there attitude and prices. To bad a great person like Dr. George has to be affiliated with that kind of place! How dissapointing.

I switched to this hospital 4 years ago when I couldn't see the same doctor EVER at my previous hospital. PMC has the best, friendliest and nicest front staff! Most of them have been there forever and remember everything about me and my dog. Recently, my dog ate 7 bees and I rushed her there (I didn't even call ahead). They got me right it - even pulled a doctor out of an exam room. Danny, the head nurse, who by the way has been there for over 25 years, kept me totally informed as to what was going on. My dog was saved! They are not the cheapest in the area, but my dog and cats deserve a nice hospital with all new equipment, doctors and staff who have been there forever and are VERY experienced and friendly, doctors that call you at 9:00 at night to update you. You want cheap? Go to Value Vet. You want to see a different doctor every time and get treated rudely? Go to VCA. For myself, I'll stay at PMC. I LOVE DANNY, RENEE, ROBIN, EVA AND DR. YUAN!!!

This is a dreadful veterinary clinic ; overpriced and with very poor care and hostile and unpleasant staff. This is the second anniversary of our adored Cat ARTHUR's death due to their over-medicating him for a routine office visit, and no-one ever got in touch, no condolences, no cards , just a vile hostile and unpleasant staff. After we brought him due to their poor treatment a practically lifeless Arthur, he was happy to be home with us, even though he died a few hours later on the bed all wrapped up in afghans. Arthur's death was so sad and upsetting, and if the PMC people were less greedy, and better vet's his needless death would never have occured. The Pet Burial people were wonderful, and he is buried at a special Pet Cemetary in Gardena, and we visit him often. Months later when we were ready for a new kitten we got 2 special Kitties from a wonderful rescue group, and of course we had a wonderful new vet at another veterinary clinic, we got that referral from the lovely women at the Pet Burial Group.We still miss Arthur, we still visit him many times a year, and have his photographs up, and everyyear we write on this site or similar sites about PMC, and we always honor Arthur's death with Memorial Contribution to a very special rescue group. The only good to come of this tragic situation, and PMC's vile behavior was that we got 2 special kittens/ 2 sister kitties.

Very caring experience.......... The time had come, I had to put my beloved cat down yesterday. When I called and spoke to the nicest guy (can't remember his name), as I cried on the phone, he made the appt time for me, had me fill out the form on line, as I walked in the door, he greated me, I didn't have to say anything, he took me into a room, for which he had the nicest warm blanket and and nice bed for my baby! Dr. Isaacs is understand and a very compassionate vet She lets you decided, when to give the last injection while they are sleeping. Dr Isaacs and nice guy I can not thank you enough for the compassion you had for my pet and me!

Greatest Vets Ever!. The quality of the care my cat and dogs receive is second to none! I have always been given an estimate of the options I have for preventative and sick care. My only gripe is that it takes a long time to check out, but the emergency vets at Animal Surgery on Sepulveda say that the records the PMC doctors keep are the best they ever get. So, if I have to wait 10 extra minutes for really good record keeping, I guess it's worth it.

The Best Vet Ever!. I have been a client of Santa Monica Pet Medical Center for over 15 years. The quality of their doctors is unmatched! Their management staff have all worked there for over 12 years. They have treated all 5 of my dogs, all 5 of my cats, my rabbit and my pet rats. The caring and compassion the doctors and staff have for animals is the best I have ever seen (whether in the Midwest where I'm from or the Valley where I used to live). They recently renovated their whole building (which was hard to live through), but the results are amazing! The hospital is clean and open and they bought a bunch of new equipment to better take care of my remaining 2 dogs and rabbit. I have and will continue to recommend them to all of my friends!

The BEST!. They are the friendliest people i have met. They love dogs and love their job. Johnny and Tyler have helped me out of situations when i thought i had no other choice. They watch my dog when i am away, walk my dog every day, and have actually become friends through the process. They are wonderful! And anyone would be lucky to have their pet taken care of by them.

Welcome Dr. Mary Isaacs!!!!. I'll be booking an appointment to take my cat, Spike, in to see Dr. Mary Isaacs DVM, right after I finish this review. I think she is the BEST vet, EVER!!! So, much so that for about 15 years I have enjoyed her caring for my pets...

I have followed her from Encino Veterinary Clinic to Veterinary Medical Center in Studio City (driving from & back to Venice - worth it!)... and, I just spent hours tracking down her new location at Pet Medical Center in Santa Monica. I must be doing something right... I found her! And, it's a shorter drive!! Lucky me!!!

So, my 5-Star rating is based on this extraordinary woman. You CAN trust her, I promise...

Best Vet in SM. I've bounced around with different vets for the last two years. I go a free exam deal from VCA Petville and was unimpressed by be offered every product and service imaginable.

I went to Santa Monica Pet Medical and told the Doctor that I want basic care, I'm not interested in prolongingly my dogs life forever, I just was good basic help. He was more than happy to break it down into the essentiall category vs. the nice to have. I didn't get a lecture, just understanding. Thank you.

Service and attention was perfect. I didn't feel like they wanted to be my best friend, and I didn't feel like a stranger either, just how I like it.

If you want a place that is not the corporate sell you everything, than this is the one in SM.
