BEWARE - Friends!!. I thought I found a great, quiet place to bring friends and play pool but after only 2 visits and the way confusion/misunderstanding over my credit card bill was handled, I feel I should warn people..... Unfortunately it was after the fact that I found some bad reviews on yelp regarding issues with mistakes on credit card bills.

1. DO NOT give your credit card to keep a tab for the evening. Not all the bartenders are nasty, but just to be safe use cash to prevent any confusion. I called because I noticed I was overcharged; couldn't find a copy of the bill and wanted to straighten it out. The woman I spoke to was very nice but no one called me back so I called again and got the woman bartender who took my original charge and instead of discussing the bill and giving me information, she was nasty and defensive and just insisted that she was right. As there was no getting clarity from her I then asked to speak with the owner, who never called back and after calling again and finding him not there, I decided I'd have to go there to talk to him in person if I wanted to get this resolved.

2. If you end up having to talk to the owner, he does not respond like a reasonable businessman, he reacts like a wild dog who just barks and barks at you before you even open your mouth!! I was so shocked by his behavior and name calling false accusations I could hardly think and just wanted to get away from him! After responding to one accusation I remembered that there's no talking to someone in that state so without further engaging in his ridiculous fury, I calmly told him what I had, he checked the record I guess, came back with some cash and yelled at me some more - amazing. That was my experience! Wow, this guy has problems. No wonder this place is pretty empty and there are bad reviews!

There are so many other bars with pool tables around, it's not worth taking the chance of being verbally attacked and abused!!

I wish it was closer. I used to go to McCabes all of the time when my boyfriend lived close by. I wish he still did! It is a great place to go and play pool while choosing your own tunes on the juke box. I always have a ton of fun and the crowd is usually very friendly. The bartender named Yorlen (sp?) is awesome- look for him he is a cute short guy. The only thing that was really surprising is that the happy hour was just $1 off well drinks and beer. That's not very competitive compared to other happy hours around here. But still one of my favorite places.

Great place to watch the game - strong drinks, good pub food. I spent every Sunday here during football season and have been back every couple of weeks just to hang out. It's the perfect neighborhood bar, has plenty of street parking and the best hash browns ever.

GROSS - DEAD FLIES IN DRINK. What a stink hole! The music is way too loud and to top things off there were flies in my drink. I'm not talking about 1 or 2 flies, I'm talking about 6 DEAD FLIES settled at the bottom of my drink. When we asked for a refund we got some nasty attitude from the bartender and it took some yelling before they refunded $10. What a disgusting place! We will never go back!!!

Great place to drink and watch a game. A Great Place to relax, play pool, darts, or watch a game on many tv's.

The Bartenders are all really nice and the beers are not over-priced.

Good Food too.

Great comfy lounge-style neighborhood bar. This is one of my favorite bars to hang out. I'll even walk in by myself, and there aren't too many places a girl feels comfortable doing that. There are a ton of comfortable couches, so you can lounge and watch a game on the big screen tv's, or play pool or shuffleboard or darts, or sit at the bar and be waited on by friendly bartenders. There are some special activity nights, like Trivia night, but I go anytime, just to hang out, or to watch a game. I highly recommend it.

Started fine - then all down-hill.... So I brought around 30 people the other night to McCabes becasue we thought it would be a change of pace. It started fine - the couches are a cool addition - food was ok - the 2 female bartenders (seemingly the only 2 people on staff that night) were nice at first but quickly acted as serving anyone was the last thing they wanted to do. Then things really got fun when they cranked up the music to ear-bleeding levels. When several of us asked to please lower it they simply smiled and did nothing. Nothing like giving everyone a reason never to return gals.

A relaxed Santa Monica spot for a beer, burger and a game of pool.. In Short
McCabe's simple, one-room layout features a duo of pool tables to the left, a scattering of tables and chairs to the right, and a line of demarcation down the center set by a wooden partition. The old-school bar stretches across the back, flanked by suspended TVs at each end. Several beers on tap and in bottles, as well as cocktails and wine, are available.
