Closest to France you're gonna get in a pastry. Delectable almond croissant - perfectly flaky on the outside, buttery layers on the inside. Almond paste is so subtle and not too sweet. Amazing. Dark-chocolate covered orange rind is delicious but very expensive - a real luxury! Good thing it's not too convenient for me to go to Frances Bakery or I'd be getting seriously fat and spending far too much on pastries and chocolate.

Delectable French pastries come complete with silver-tray-and-china service in quaint Little Tokyo.. The Scene
On the edge of Little Tokyo in a quiet mini-mall is Frances Bakery, a 20-year-old fixture owned by affable Itsuo Tachibana, who greets guests as though they were old friends. The décor is soft pink, linoleum and abundantly Rococo, including a small-scale spread of Gallic mouldings and cornices. The mainly Nisei clientele lounges at the half dozen or so tables over coffee, mini crème brulées and slices of opera and tiramisu cake served on silver trays and floral china by Itsuo himself. It's a peaceful, contemplative culinary affair.

The Goods
Each baked good is itself an aesthetic wonder: faux wood-top cake, coffee-and-apricot-jam marble-top Amaretto cake, Domino cake made of coiled almond cookies and strawberry jam, orange mousse artfully garnished with rinds, crème pastries in the shape of swans, Japanese candies shaped like men and women. Gift boxes of hot-sellers like almond and raisin safoure and almond cookies are at the cash register.

I love sweets. My favorite cake is Domino. It's really delicious.

Almond cookies is also really good!!

The best French Pastry in LA. I have tasted several of the cakes. I have never had such delicious cakes.Their cakes are not only delicious but they are beautifully presented.
