worst service, bad ok food, nice patio, not dry waffle, cold coffee, fresh pastries, healthy down
Service here is comically slow, but the extensive menu of healthy items is worth the wait. Come for organic options galore.
*&^*ty's Bakery.
Honestly, if I could give this place a negative star, I would. One star is even too good a review.
Have had breakfast and lunch here a few times, each time hoping it would be better. The service is slow and incompetent. They are always out of something and then when the order finally comes, not only have you had to substitute for something else because they ran out, but there will always be something wrong ie. how your eggs are done, what kind of toast, etc. In addition to all this, the food is tasteless and disgusting.
To add insult to injury, I bought a pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving ( didn't realize Urth would be closed so I was desperate). Well, once the pie was served, we all took one bite and all of us simultaneously spat it out- it was that bad. It was chalky, dry and tasteless. Have tried calling Mani's to talk to someone about this and so far have not be able to reach a manager.
They should just rename this place Crappy's Bakery.
Great Weekend Lunch Place. I like Mani's (outside seating specifically) because it is one of the places on Main Street where you can sit, relax, eat, and people watch. Though I had to wait quite awhile for an outside table- there was plenty of room inside, but it was stuffy and not air-conditioned) it was worth it: the pesto chicken sandwich was delicious and the servers were receptive to my specifics. I never felt forced or rushed while I read my book, especially for a warm Sunday afternoon. I will return!
worst service ever. the set up is sort of a ordering in line, and there are ten people behind the counter that suffer something worst then ADD. i was waiting and ordering and waiting and reordering and finally gave up - asked for my money and stormed out of this realm of utmost delirium. besides, the prices are outrageous for the simplistic menu.
Best Sandwich on Main Street. Great place to stop for lunch. I highly recommend all their sandwiches especially their chicken pesto. Also their cesar salad is great! The bakery is also very good, both the Pecan and Cherry Pies are worth the price!
Mani's Bakery.
can't cook eggs - P.S. G - Today
Just had breakfast at Mani's, I ordered my eggs over easy, when they were delivered the whites were mostly raw and runny, (a health hazard)
I pointed this out to the server who returned them to the kitchen, when he returned with them they were the same eggs over hard, very hard.
Unfortunately I was too short on time to wait for a 3rd try at getting them right and ate anyway.
I found the attitude of the server somewhat cavalier, and inattentive ( the place was not busy) perhaps he was just having a bad day.
Although I've eaten at Mani's in the past and been satisfied, I shall not bother to return.
My experience didn't warrant a tip, perhaps your staff will take the hint.
Sour grapes, absolutely, sorry to say they are well deserved
No longer dog friendly!!!. Mani's used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Santa Monica. The food is healthy, and they have a nice patio to eat outside. Unfortunately the service is probably the worst service i have experienced on a consistent basis. When a waffle comes with fruit, whipped cream, and syrup...don't bring a dry waffle. When u bring the syrup, why would u then serve the next customer the same dry waffle (who then has to wonder why he now needs to ask for syrup as well.) My coffee was served promptly with milk and sweetener, but for about 20 minutes it got cold while i waited for my spoon to stir it. And to top it all off, they now no longer allow dogs onto the patio. They have to be tied on the outside of the restaurant. I dont know what to say besides I am no longer a fan of Mani's.
Worst Cafe Ever. This cafe has the worst service ever and the food doesn't make up for it either. The first time we went, we sat outside for 15 minutes with no server. We were finally fed up and decided to leave. The second time around, we got menus and sat inside, and finally got a server after 15 minutes (who by the way had no personality and seemed very incompetent). He took our order, but never returned with our drinks. We finally had to ask for our drinks after 10 minutes of waiting, and when he brought out drinks out, they were in to go cups and he mumbled a long explanation of why our drinks took so long, but neither my boyfriend nor I were able to comprehend what he was saying. And after another 20 minutes, I saw our food being placed on the counter, which sat for another 5 minutes before one of the cooks brought out the food. The food was decent, but my Caesar salad didn't have any croutons, which is a huge minus in my book. The server never came by once to check on us, and I had to go to the register to ask for refills on our drinks and ask for our check. One of the worst experiences.
A Waste of Space on Main Street. I've been to Mani's several times. Each time worse than the time before, culminating in my most recent experience which led to my vow never to go back. Mani's has consistently bad service, but this was a new low. My boyfriend and I arrived about 3 pm on a weekday. There were TWO other tables occupied on the patio (which by the way, stunk and was littered with old coffee cups). 15 minutes pass. Nothing. So we got our own menus. Finally, after about 25 minutes the waitress appears. She looks about 15 and is dressed so inappropriately that we were both surprised to learn she was our waitress. She takes our order. 20 minutes later food comes. I say "food" because our drinks never came and my order was wrong. I tell the bus boy it's the wrong order, please take it back and send out our server. He stares blankly at me - apparently not understanding any english, but he takes my plate. Lolita comes out passes right by our table and proceeds to spend the next 15 minutes taking the orders of other tables. (The patio is now full.) I flag her down and explain the problem and ask how fast she can have the correct order out. Without apologizing for the mistake (in fact her response is that the kitchen does it all the time) she tells me they're kind of busy now and it will take atleast 15 minutes. I remind her that we were there before all the other guests and ask her to go check with the kitchen (afterall my boyfriend's been eating for the last half hour and is close to done). 15 minutes pass. Nothing. I walk inside. There are three employees standing around doing nothing - including her. She ignores me and chats with her coworker. I ask her how long and she tells me she hasn't put the order in yet. I tell her to cancel the order - considering I've spent an hour at this place and have yet to receive my drink or any food. She shrugs it off. So I left Mani's - thirsty, hungry and unbelievably frustrated. Not a good experience to say the least.
Avoid as much as you can, weekends even worse....
Low quality food & service
We went there for breakfast, got cold coffee, bad service and OK food. Only one omelet out of 6 dishes we ordered was fine. The service is not good and its not professional (Almost scary and frightening. It is a bakery but we didnt receive fresh pastries. Wont go there again. B Grade for months.
Friendly advice: STAY AWAY
