What People Are Saying About Omelette Parlor

In Short – The long line outside the door might deter a few passers-by, but small families and local couples don't mind waiting outside this bustling breakfast spot for fluffy egg creations. Once inside the Cape Cod-ish cottage, diners sit among lace-covered windows and black-and-white framed photos as they order breakfast favorites such as waffles, croissants and, of course, omelets. Most breakfast plates are served with grilled potatoes, an English muffin and fresh fruit.
Editor's Tips
- When To Go:
- Daily early bird specials run Monday through Friday from 6am to 7am with menu omelets half-off.
- Where to Sit:
- The outdoor patio, dotted with umbrella-covered tables and blossoming plants, is perfect on a cool Santa Monica morning or sunny afternoon.
- The Extras:
- While breakfast reigns supreme, lunch items such as sandwiches and salads are also popular with the local business crowd.

Our food came out on time and was prepared just right. I would recommend this place to a hungry person the portions are huge! Service as ok but the food made up for it! I’d go here again for sure.
Upsetting experience at Omelette Parlor today
by mcsoupdaddy at Citysearch
I am still in shock by the way we were treated by Bob (who said he was the owner) and the hostess at Omelette Parlor today - it was like something out of a Seinfeld episode, but instead of being funny, it ruined a nice family breakfast - - not just for me, but for my extended family who was visiting from out of town this weekend.
My family and I (6 adults + 1 toddler) were literally kicked out of the Omelette Parlor today for bringing in one coffee from Starbucks. I live in the neighborhood and have been going on and off to Omelette Parlor for years, but unfortunately today marks the end of that era.
I have a difficult time understanding why they needed to take the hard line of "you need to get rid of your coffee right now or we won't serve you" instead of "we'd appreciate it if next time you did not bring coffee in from outside." Admittedly, we were all quite shocked to be told we would not be served - and then we were told to leave by Bob after we expressed our surprise and a displeasure with their approach and quite honestly, hostile tone.
Then, after Bob came to our table to tell us to leave, being someone who generally looks for a healthy way to resolve conflicts, I made an extra effort to genuinely try and de-escalate the situation by explaining I live in the neighborhood, have been coming for years, and that I, too, am a business owner in Santa Monica. I made it very clear I felt there was still an opportunity for us to resolve this in a way that we could both feel good about. Unfortunately, this approach was met by a short "we will not serve you, case closed" and he refused to talk to me, saying "we don't care if we lose your business, because frankly we have enough customers that we don't need it." At that point, my jaw was on the floor - - I thought to myself, did he really just say that and did this really just happen?
I felt like Bob's behavior not only negatively impacted our special family time together, but now, something that I have enjoyed for years - - family breakfasts at Omelette Parlor - - has been taken from me. I can honestly say I've never had another experience even close to this at any other restaurant in my entire life, and like I said, I'm still almost in a state of shock because of how we were treated.
To be fair, I understand the thinking behind not wanting to let people bring coffee in from outside as it could hurt the business, but how on earth could taking such a militant stand, and not only losing 7 customers today over 1 coffee - - but losing a loyal lifetime customer with lots of friends in Santa Monica who I'll tell this story to - - be seen as good business practice?
But again, I'm baffled by the whole situation. So, unlike many reviews, I'm not complaining about a dirty fork or a salad that didn't taste right - - in fact, I love the food at Omelette Parlor. Instead, I'm writing this review because I think it's important to communicate how poorly we were treated by Bob, the owner, as well as the hostess, of this Main Street Santa Monica (former) favorite breakfast spot.
What a bummer for this to have happened. It seems so unnecessary.
Great Food

This is just a plain great breakfast place, they seem to be hard to find. I am not a fan of IHop and Denny’s…I am always searching for something different. This is probably one of my favorite breakfast spots, the food is always great. I really like the French toast.
Avoid the holidays

We went Thanksgiving morning and ordered omelets all around it was hit or miss. A few were served with unmelted cheese, probably because the cook did not want to brown the outside or he/she was in a hurry to put out the orders. There were too many tomatoes and the OP potatoes/hash was soggy. The english muffins were straight out of the bag, maybe we should have asked for them to be toasted because I prefer a crunch. The Sexy was bland and dry, the chicken boiled the night before in just water, no seasonings, the canned mushrooms were few and the Schwarzenegger was cold and wet. Since most of the omelets were packed with tomatoes, everything was semi-soggy. on the plus side, the spinach was good and the goat cheese was good too. The regular chef must have had the day off for thanksgiving.
- Pros: very retro atmosphere, good service
- Cons: food poorly cooked
