What People Are Saying About Lazy Daisy Cafe

In Short – This home-style cafe serves hearty breakfasts and lunches in a quaint country atmosphere. Neighborhood patrons leisurely unwind at tile-design tables in the outdoor patio's ivy-trellised shade, while a bakery display and blackboard specials surround a few wood tables inside. Organic coffees accompany the standard dishes of omelettes, salads and sandwiches, though specialties like banana-walnut pancakes and fresh handmade burgers like the rosemary turkey add a unique twist to the menu.
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- Most seats are found outside on the patio or along the makeshift courtyard on the parking lot--just beware of car fumes.

Friendly and appetizing

I am a local and I love to meet people at this friendly morning and afternoon cafe on Pico Blvd in Santa Monica. They have a wide choice of healthy items, good organic coffee and a nice covered patio. It gets busy so finding parking nearby can be inconvenient especially on Saturdays because the Farmer's Market is across the street. But the waiters and waitresses are really helpful and the food is consistently great.
- Pros: Good service, fresh food
- Cons: parking is difficult
Ok food; overpriced

I ordered eggs with sausage and toast - which turned out pretty humdrum, nothing to brag about. I got bacon instead of sausage on my plate, and it was over salted. The cup of fresh fuit that came with the meal didn't taste particularly fresh. The breakfast cost me $11 with tax and tip - definitely not worth it!
- Pros: Cute place, nice patio
- Cons: Mediocre food, overpriced
Bad service

We went here yesterday for breakfast cause we knew we could sit outside with my dog. Well, they never gave her water (despite asking). I never got a refill on my coffee. The food wasn't that great. It took forever to order and forever to come. And the waitress was RUDE. I won't be back.
- Pros: Can sit outside with dogs
- Cons: Rude staff
If you want to wait 20 mins for your food to reach your table...

Living in the neighborhood I'd love to give a 5 star review for this place but the service is so abysmal that I just can't do it. My wife and I have been going here for 5 yrs or so and in the last 2 yrs it's really gone down hard. The wait staff is lackadaisical at best and the kitchen is so slow it's mind boggling that people wait to be served. Literally it will take 5-8 minutes to give a drink order and 8-10 to place a food order. After that, prepare to wait...and wait... and wait....It took 20 minutes to receive our food the last time we ate there.
Save yourself the time and go somewhere on Main St.
What a crappy place...
- Pros: atmosphere
- Cons: service, price
Cute with good food, but overpriced with mediocre service

Lazy Daisy is definitely cute - it has a secluded little patio with umbrellas and mosaic chairs, and is a great place for Sunday brunch, or to grab coffee and a snack with a friend to get away from the Starbucks routine. The selection of unique breakfasts and lunches is great, and the food is pretty good: I recommend the omelettes for breakfast, although the turkey burger was kind of disappointing - thin, greasy, and on a boring bun. Also, my hot chocolate was thin and lukewarm at best. The service is pretty bad, especially considering how small it is - it's difficult to flag down waiters. Lazy Daisy is a cute place to go if you're in Santa Monica, but I would avoid it at peak times (so you can get better service). Also a warning: it's pretty overpriced for what it is. I guess you're paying for the patio.
- Pros: food, ambience
- Cons: service, prices
