Editorial Review for Cha Cha Chicken – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
With banana trees, painted oil drums and tall sugarcane fences, this eatery is a splash of color amid the hulking hotels that line Ocean Avenue. Chatty couples and laid-back surfer types order at the counter, then head to the patio to dine under palm umbrellas. The island-inspired menu isn't huge, but features Mexican, Cuban and Cajun influences. The signature dish is roasted chicken swathed in a fruity, fiery jerk sauce.

What to Drink

Try one of the imported Jamaican soft drinks, such as spicy ginger beer, or a sweet and bubble-gummy "kola champaigne."

There's plenty of metered street parking. Meters run for up to five hours and accept only quarters.

Good prices and the Jrk chicken combo is the one to get. Also get the Ginger Beer. (non alcoholic) Its that simple! Trust me, I've been going there for 8+ years.

Pros: Great food. Great Prices

Lunch during a walk on the beach, come here on a weekend to get away from the tourists on 3rd Street. I definitely reccommend the "j*rk" (the word is forbidden on the site, but this is a description of the cooking style) chicken tacos or the combo plate, or really anything with "j*rk" chicken. Add a ginger beer or fresh juice (watermelon and cantaloupe) and a summer meal is complete. This is such a fun, inexpensive place near the beach- and there are lines of meters so parking is easy. The bright orange and red paint job is hokey but cute and makes for a relaxed atmosphere. Bring friends!

Pros: Not touristy, great food

Cons: Busy street
