The Best Chinese Connection to Food Outside of Hong Kong. Imagine yourself in a crowded street in Hong Kong [specifically "Temple Street"] and all of its epic glory, the total assault on all of your senses, the psychic trippadelic smells, the spinning lights, and amazing crowds wafting in front of your eyes. Now focus on all the great Restaurants surrounding you overflowing to the point where the proprietors have to set up tables outside and the crowds willing to sit out in the rain and cold.

Imagine the food, freshly steamed, fried, boiled, and broiled fish, clams, oysters, and shrimp so fresh that they seems to jump off the plate. The smell of woked beef, prok, and chicken so intoxicating that you fail to notice the sounds of crowds and plates clashing together to creat an ambiance that fails in comparasince to the moment you bite into their chili shrimp; now bring that all indoors with a splash of elegance, and that's what you'd get when you go to Golden City Seafood Restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles.

If you want Chinese cuisine as good as you'd get in Hong Kong without having to fly 15000 miles then it's worth the drive to China Town for that early late lunch or the foodie?s paradise for dinner. If you can get there and are willing to trust yourself to the proprietor it can be an experience that promises to be one of the greatest that you?ll ever have.

Great food. If you like fried spicy salt dishes, THIS IS THE PLACE. They do crab, oyster (amazing), shrimp, squid, cod fillet, pork chop...

Worth the typical noisy Chinese restaurant ambience.

You should know.... The restaurant across the street, Full House, gets excellent reviews, but nobody realizes that Golden City has the same owner and serves the same great food (best seafood). Full House is always crowded, but Golden City isn't, because most people don't realize, it's the same food/same owner. Try Golden City! Excellent food -- no crowds!
