Sit at the bar and order al la carte. All the sushi is fresh and awesome. And be sure to ask the sushi chef what to order--he knows best.

Long wait for lunch and dinner but worth the hours because they have the freshest fish in town. Lunch sashimi plate with huge portions for ONLY $15.

Bad host service, but good sushi. Today was a disappointment. We had a party of 5, but my brother in-law was pulling into the parking lot and we 4 of us sat first. They notice we were missing one of 5 and said, we can't sit you. We were already sat down and he gave us a minute. I went outside to get him and by the time I get back, the host asked my folks and sister get up and wait. He gave our tables to another party of 3. I was so upset. He said it's not fair to sit us when all party was not here and it was only 2 minutes. He made us get off the table and made us wait another 15-20 minutes for another table. The food was always premium, I come here enough times, given very generous gratuity every single time. So, basically he can be unfair to us, but he doesn't want to be unfair to others. We were embarrassed and people saw us sat down and get up after 2-3 minutes sitting down. This is the worst service from a restaurant host ever. Despite the disrespectful host, I still gave my fair gratuity today because the rest of the service is fine and I don't like making others suffer because of one uneducated idiot.

Great Fish and Huge Portions!. I go to all the "best" sushi restaurants in town often: Nozawa, Sasabune, Zo, Mori, etc....

Gen is straightforward. The fish is fresh and they give you a nice hunk of fish.

Best food in town. Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood.

The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you.

The appetizers are delicious.

Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance.

Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived

Omakase Orgasm!. Omakase Orgasm!

When you become a sushi snob, omakase is a must at Sushi-Gen.

Sushi Master Masa started us out with a seaweed soup that we slurped up in delight. I loved the daikon flavoring contrasting with the cool slippery seaweed.

We had over 20 pieces of fish. Each order came with two pieces so make sure you specify if you only want one piece. The toro, Spanish mackerel and albacore was the best I've had. I also enjoyed the red snapper, squid and they did a good job with basics like eel.

The only downside is the cost which didn't afford us any extras. And I felt the service was very slow. Still, I'd put up with again just for more toro.

Great Japanese food in LA. This food is a little pricey for what it is, however, if you are feeling sushi tonight and you are in LA, there is no better place

Favorite Sushi Restaurant. Hands down my favorite sushi restaurant to go to. Freshest and best quality sushi in the LA area. Try to go for dinner as the lines for lunch are ridiculous.

Great sushi @ an affordable price!!. The sushi is always fresh here and the service is good. I always enjoy sitting at the sushi bar bc I know I will be well taken care of.

The Chirashi bowl lunch special is worth the trip to dtla! But come before it open or after the lunch rush!! If not, you will have to wait!
