Great Mom and Pop Sushi Place. My wife and I have been going here for years. We were shocked all of the reviews on here weren't stellar. Its a family, the daughter helps out sometimes. Sushi is always top-notch! You can always count on high quality, fresh sushi. Highly Recommend.
Last Hidden Sushi Bar!. Food is always good!! Especially Fish is Very Fresh. Also the price is very reasonable! Very friendly Sushi Master (Pop and Mom) and servers always welcome. I always eat Japanese Food at many different restaurants, yet I probably think Hakone is the Best Japanese Restaurant. I think you will agree with me if you visit the restaurant. Overall, Hakone is the last hidden Sushi bar!
Recommended for Non Sushi and California roll lovers.. The "Non" Sushi dinner combos are pretty good for it's price. I have been to Hakone for years eating the combo dishes with friends and family. Their California rolls are great. The only downside was their sushi. I had their toro and it was pretty much their leftover slice. The toro had tons of veins and the taste was 85% like eating a rubber band. YMMV though...
Sushi chefs unfriendly, sushi rolls tiny. I heard good things about this small sushi shop in Torrance so I decided to make a trip there. I ordered several rolls like Soft Shell Crab roll, Eel Roll and Salmon Skin Roll. Unlike the usual futomaki style these rolls should be, they came in bit size portions with a thick layer of rice. I asked the sushi chef why the rolls were so small and he said that's how he made them. Needless to say, it wasn't very good at all. Also, I was surprised to see that he only used the soft shell crab legs to make my roll. The left over shell, he put it in someone elses salad. I dont think this place is worth it at all considering my bill was $76. A total loss.

My friend and I were craving Japanese, and since this was on our way, we chose it. Parking was a drag. Inside was nothing fancy, but we were seated promptly. The menu had mostly $8.50+ combination plates. I ordered the Teriyaki+Tempura combo which had 5 finger-sized slices of meat, coleslaw as a salad, and briny tempura sauce. I ordered an eel roll, and it was just bland.
We finished up, paid, walked out, and were divvying up the money, when 1 of the waitresses comes running after us saying "You didn't leave a tip." I couldn't hear her, so I asked again, and she said, "You guys didn't give any tip." Me and my friend look at each other like 0_0 and give her $2. She was a good waitress, and we just completely forgot to tip, but damned if I've ever been chased down for lack of it.
