Soggy mush. Soggy mush dripping off our plates is what we received.mostly canned vegetables on the Pho crispy noodle with gravy. I also spotted our host picking his nose in plain view. Gross

Southeast Asia's twist on fast food: quick, customized noodle dishes.. In Short
At peak times, the comfortable, homespun space bustles with contented soup slurpers. The Vietnamese menu is basically fast food without the frying: rice or egg noodles and individualized trimmings--thin beef slices, meatballs, shrimp, tripe--added raw to the hot, clear broth, which cooks them. Besides soups, the menu features charbroiled pork and beef dishes, as well as egg and spring rolls--from rice paper rolls filled with shrimp, veggies and pork to noodle-like "rice rolls."

Over rated. This place is okay for pho. I think only non-Vietnamese give this restaurant a high rating for good pho. The pho is not up to par for Vietnamese standards.

Average compare to other locale.. I must say that Pho 79 truly pioneered and dominated Vietnamese cuisine. I'd patron almost all of their locations, but I can't give much to this one. The food itself is great with the same great taste, but lacking some quality. For instance, the disappointment was when you order the largest bowl of the Extra Large Special Pho', you get franchised style quantity - which is small. The best one to go to would be in Alhambra on the corner of Garfield and Main St...good service, highly praised ambience, HUGE portions and plenty of parking and plenty more of everything else around the area!

A childhood favorite!. I have been coming here with my parents since I was a little girl. I'm now in my 30's and love going back, especially to introduce friends to Vietnamese food. The ambiance is not the most desirable but they've got to keep the prices down somehow. This place is exactly what you can expect from a crowded noodle house in Vietnam. Other than pho, try to switch it up with the vermicelli w/pork & egg rolls.

Get me closer to God. If you haven't tried Pho, walk don't run to Pho 79 on Broadway. It's a veritable symphony of tastes and flavors. Try the Special Pho 79, throw in the fresh basil, jalapenos, some hot sauce and squeeze in the lime...then slurp to your heart's content. Try it with imperial rolls (fried pork "egg" rolls, that you wrap in lettuce and mint leaves and dunk into a special sauce). You'll be back. Trust me.

Best Pho in LA. It is the best. I hav ebeen going there for 10 yrs and it never has disappointed me. Always good food when you need it. Especially on cold days, nothing beats a hot bowl of pho. Always a good bet for a diverise group. I have always seen a bunch of different ethnicities there at any time.
