Chinese Friends L.A. equals Yuckyness. Like many people here I had been going to this place since a child but I was not aware of their "changes".They tottally murdered the kung-pao chicken with peanuts recipie...horrible!!!!.I understand them having a different chef but it is always better to keep "old things" in their place or like they say "why fix it if it ain't broken".Well their kung-pao chicken recipie is now BROKEN!.They do though,in my opinion, have "surviving winners" like the beef broccoli.hope they don't change that. Thanks 4 reading!!!
Highly Not Recommended.
This restaurant used to be one of the best Chinese restaurant in LA. But under the new ownership and different chef it is serving average third class Cantonese
cuisine which is sweet, sticky, greasy and yucky.
Highly not recommended for the ones who really understands what gourmet Chinese cuisine is about.
GREASY & YUCKY.
A friend highly recommended this place & based on the reviews I previously read on this site, my husband and I decided to go and try out this amazing place everyone seems to rave about.
We were immediately seated and served hot tea, which at this point everything seemed like things were running pretty smoothly. I ordered eggrolls, orange chicken (which were highly recommended), & their noodles. Eggrolls were light & crispy, in other words no complaints. Then came the orange chicken & the noodles, they were overflowing in oil which was a complete turnoff to the beginning of our meal. What a dissapointment to our dinner. We ate very little because all that oil in the food just made our stomachs turn and want to run out that door as fast as we could. The flavor of the food was nothing to rag about.
This place was full with a long waiting line, my husband and I left wondering why a big fuss about this place. It was soooo disscusting. I guess people who like oily, fatty food are the only ones who seem to like it. I will never go back to this place. In addition to this here I sit writing this review and chewing on a couple of Pepcid Complete's to aleviate my stomach pain from all that greasy yucky food..........
THE BEST CHINESE FOOD EVER!!!. I have been going here before i was born. I LOVE this place!! The FOOD IS GREAT!!! i crave it all the time!!! i drive 60 miles just to go eat at this WONDERFUL PLACE!!! OH MAN.. i am craving it NOW!!! This place should be everywhere... like abc stores in Ohau. I highly suggest that everyone try this place. The "beef pan fried noodles" are my favorite. Sometimes they run out becuase they are thaaat GOOD!! OH WOW.. ive got the whole family craving it now.. so we are going. SEE YOU THERE!!!
great food, no frills. I have been coming to this restaurant for more than 5 years now, and I have never had a bad dish. In fact, it's all been excellent--that's what keeps me coming back. The portions are good, prices are decent, and the food is wonderful. Some servers are somewhat abrupt, but others are very friendly.
Chewing on Eggshells. The outside didn't look too bad. I got my food fast, but I paid $10 for just a little box. Then when I got home I ate about half...until it seemed that eggshells were in my food (I had to get rid of the rest). I ordered the shrimp with eggs which sounded interesting. Unfortunately, I won't go back and I don't see why people rave about that place.
Great "Hole in the Wall of China". I do not live in the area yet I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I was 10 years old. I am now 35 and still favor this "little hideaway". You must try the Shrimp in Pepper Sauce. This is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to find a 4 star Chinese restaurant that serves a comprable quality of food. This is definitley worth driving 45 minutes for. The taste of the cuisine is absolutely amazing good prices also. Ambience leaves a little to be desired and the atmosphere is very hustle and bustle, yet people line up outside the door and wait to be seated. They must be doing something right.
best in the far west. if you want food not decor, eat here. this place sells great i mean very good chinese food. best in the west. its some what small but they make up for it with their food. the prices are good . everyone should check out this little L.A. treaure located in the heart of chinatown.
