like italian food, disgusting pasta carbonara, huge servings, great pizza, good greatest service, good italian food, excellent restaurant
Great Food - Family Operated.
I have been to many South Bay Italian Restaurants over the past 30 years. Many of the best have closed after the owners retired.
One of the few restaurants still around with that family operated flair and flavor is Scardino's Italian Restaurant. Scardino's knows how to make every dish right. I have had a variety of dishes and when I ask them to prepare it a special way for me, I get it that way. My favorite is Eggplant Parmigiana well done. It comes with soup or salad and pasta on the side. I usually have to take half of it home
I asked them how they do it, and they told me old family recipes and the finest freshest ingredients.
The service is exceptional. Although relatively small, they have and abundance of staff to assure that food is prepared fresh and serviced timely.
I have had so many great dishes there are too many to name.
The tiramasu for desert is to die for. Truly the best I have ever had and made fresh daily. It's good to ask for them to hold you a slice so they don't run out by time you are finished with your meal. So make sure you have room, and if not, take home a serving to have later.
I have wasted my money at a lot of places looking for the best, but when it comes to Italian, Scardino's is the place to go.
Do yourself a favor and stay away!.
I have been to Scardino's twice. The first time I thought maybe it was what I ordered...but this time we tried to stick with the classics. I had the tortellini with peas and mushrooms and my husband had the pasta carbonara.
First of all both pasta dishes were overcooked. My cream sauce tasted just like plain cream! Not even a hint of nutmeg or any other seasoning. The pasta carbonara was DISGUSTING! I know that carbonara isn't a light pasta, but this one was swimming in oil or butter. It looked like the dish had curdled. How can they get something so basic like pasta carbonara wrong? It was so terrible that I still have a headache and upset stomach.
This place is for the amateur, buffet loving, McDonalds eating kind of person. If you want to experience this food without spending much money, just go and get yourself of a can of Chef Boyardee. Believe me, there is not much of a difference.
The BEST!!. Scardino's not only has great pizza, but the rest of the menu is SPECTACULAR too!! The prices are ridiculously cheap and the servings are huge!! If you like Italian food, you MUST try Scardino's you will love it!!
