Great Shabu, great people!
by JeremyJeremy
We always enjoy eating here. We usually order prime rib, it's very juicy and tender, even our small kids can eat well! Good amont of meat and veggies, zesty dipping sauces, ramen, ice cream and mini coffee.......Mmmmm We gotta go back tonight! All servers are nice and friendly. Last week our kids got little toys made by origami paper. Thanks, guys.
- Pros: Great shabu shabu, great people
- Cons: Busy on weekends
Best Shabu Shabu value
by mypet
I have been eating here for over 10 years, and I LOVE this place. The staff is always friendly, and the Kobe extra large or marble all-you-can-eat are my favorite items on the menu.
- Pros: best shabu shabu
- Cons: not enough tables
Just Average

There are some Shabu Shabu places that you just KNOW you're coming back to. This place, I would probably not return. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant, which would be okay usually, but this corner seemed to be a mini storage. There was a broken chair, a broom, and some pieces of wood all pushed aside to this random conrner where they decided to seat customers anyway. Second, the hot pots are deeper than usual, so you have to stick your hand inside the pots (not in the water) to grab your food. The steam burns your hands! Everyone knows that the sause also makes a big difference. Here, the sause was just okay. Not enough to make me say, "wow, I'm coming back here again".
There were two of us and they only brought one salad. Then, when the meal came, they only brought us one plate of udon. My friend never got his ramen. The waitresses kept themselves busy with restocking the area and cleaning, but not too much attention with service. Again, it wasn't that bad, but I wouldn't return just because I know there are some MUCH better Shabu Shabu places out there for the same price, or maybe less.
- Pros: is it a pro if I say "not that bad"?
- Cons: overall, its just average
Best Shabu in the South Bay
by boeing_leo
since there have only been 3 reviews written on gyushintei, i think its unfair that someone gave them bad reviews for the bad service. my first experience there was great, the service was pleasant, and we got seated right away at ~7pm on a saturday night.
we opted for the all you can eat since my friend and are are bears for meat, we figured we could make up for the wives. the menu is pretty extensive and the server explained the difference between ordering and getting the all you can eat.
so the meal begins, the staff brings out the personal hotpots for everyone at the table. forms of what you want are then filled out and given to the server who brings out your individual order by name. the all you can eat portions range from small to large. all in all, the time between each portion out spaced out perfectly, no long waits for idle time. overall we must have placed 3 order each over the course of our 2 hr dinner.
in the end, we received our ice cream with coffee on top to top off a great meal.
only drawback i see is that the price is pretty high, ~30 a person, however the dining experience was definitely worth it. although i am weary when my friend calls out a place as "the best in the south bay", gyushintei is definitely a best in the south bay shabu.
- Pros: great ambience, plenty of food, lots of parking
- Cons: pricy
