Tips for Claim Jumper

October 06, 2008

Gold mining and dining unite at this kitschy all-American eatery.. In Short
Established in 1977, the Claim Jumper draws families, seniors and professionals with a mix of Old-West decor and a reliable menu of American classics. Logs, corrugated tin, rock and warm fireplaces embellish the unique ambience. Signature plates include hickory-smoked pork ribs, rotisserie chicken and barbecued beef tri-tip; the menu also offers tortilla chicken soup, potpies, wood-fired pizzas, and the popular six-layer Chocolate Motherlode Cake. The saloon features appetizers and the restaurant's own brews.

Don't know what happened to the quailty.... My whole family ate here a few years back and the food was good. But within the last 2-3 yrs the quality declined, food was way too greasy and fattening. We will never come here again. There is better quality out there, search for other places here on citysearch.

Excellent Filet Mignon. I have been here a couple of times with my family. The service is really good, seated within 30mins on a busy weekend. Garden salads are very good size and tasty. Filet mignon is good size and comes with good side dishes. Food was cooked to order. Salmon as cooked well. A little bit pricey but worth it. Ambience is nice and good place for family and kids. Also, they have a salad bar, which I have not tried.

Pretty good baked potato. That is all.. The potato was good. Nothing else was. Oh, yeah, the parking lot was convenient. This place is way over rated. Also too noisy.

Skip It. Since I hate paying high prices then leaving hungry, we checked out the Claim Jumper. Well, I didn't leave hungry, nor satisfied.

Our servers were pleasant but slow and not always available. The food took too long. It a situations where you have multiple servers throughout the experience. One takes your order, another brings your drinks and someone you haven't seen yet shows up with your food. Some call this teamwork, but it's my experience that when this happens the service quality erodes.

The food - not good. Huge portions of rather tasteless , ordinary stuff. The fried zuccini was extra thick and lacked crispness and delicateness. Kind of like fried eggplant.

For what you are getting -basic Americana cuisine like they serve in a diner (and an ambiance to match), only bigger - the value is not there. We will not return.

yuck!. Went there one time. I begged my husband to take me and I was so disappointed with the mediocre food and service for the price. Server was not in the least bit interested in us and I tipped accordingly. Do not waste your time.

plain bummer. Claim Jumper is even worse than Outback when it comes to quality of food. The company seems to try to compensate for their tasteless fare by giving you huge portions. As if more of the dull, bland, food will make up for the poor quality. A lot of food does not make it good. A LOT OF FOOD DOES NOT MAKE IT GOOD! Repeat to yourself, rinse, repeat. Prices are reasonable, but still overpriced for their food. You can get comparable meat at Taco Bell...oh wait...is that meat?

The wait is typically long on weekends and it's too loud. Not a place for a first date. Not a place to take any date if you wish to impress her/him.

Interesting, good food,mile-high desserts. Good steaks, salad bar is packed with anything and everything. But, it's usually crowded and very noisy. The atmosphere is early kitch but varied. Save room for the desserts, 6 layerchocolate cake is among the selections, enough to split with companion. Lastly the service is always great. Have a great time.

steak house. Claim jumper may be a good restaurant, but it is NOT a steak house!

The Best of the West. Food is great. Service can be lagging, especially at peak times. If your food is not to your liking, tell the server. The manager will either 'comp' the item or offer a free desert. Service can be bad at any place when it is very busy, so try to go at times when they are not so busy.
