My first encounter with Gable House will certainly be my last. I went there randomly during the week after work with some friends. They went to bowl and I went to hang out, watch a few rounds and drink a few beers with them. I was unaware that spectators had to pay the 12 dollar “cover” as well, whether or not they were bowling. I find this ridiculous to begin with and have never experienced that at any other alleys I’ve been too. I was told my options would be to pay, leave or hang out in the bar. Usually I’d be fine with hanging out at the bar but the service I received there was well below par. The bartender was too busy chatting to her friends to bother with me. I waiting for at least 15 min (the bar has maybe 10 people in it, max) to be served. I’ve received faster service at crowded Hollywood and Santa Monica bars (not to mention, I would have paid less of a cover). When I complained, the security/bouncers were rude and threatening. Upon leaving I witnessed the same type of scene as one written about prior on here. One of the Security personnel called a Black patron a “monkey” and “terrerist (sp).” I find this completely unacceptable. Music would have been great is I was in 8th grade, full of angst and wanted to tell my parents to shove it. Booze: cheap (assuming you actually get served)

Pros: cheap beer

Cons: thuggish security and terrible service.

When we arrived, I wondered why eggs had been thrown at the front of the building. Half an hour later I had my answer. Our office had stopped by to send a friend off who is moving away; Gable House is central so we thought it a good choice. Bad decision. The music was so loud talking wasn’t an option. In the bar, two friends and I waited fifteen minutes for two bartenders to finish talking to friends before they rudely helped us. As soon as we walked back into the bowling alley, rude overzealous staff began to yell at us to leave. Apparently there is a cover charge that no one at the door mentioned to us. Fair enough, but they began to threaten our group of thirty with bodily harm if we didn’t immediately leave. ‘You want some of this?’ kind of stuff. While I’m holding my four year old. Classy! As they herded us into the parking lot, the real fun began. ‘Team Charming’ followed us and the other twenty or so people they had rudely kicked out into the parking lot. They repeatedly threatened everyone with bodily harm if we didn’t leave immediately. Why would you forcibly throw out half the people in your establishment in such a way as to guarantee that the only reason they would ever come back is to throw eggs? And this brings me to the final straw. One of the fifty or so people they threw out appeared to be middle eastern. The security guards repeatedly called him a F..g monkey, a T-head, and a terrorisst. They said get off my property and get out of my country. At this point, not only was I embarrassed for the security guard, but for the manager of the Gable House who refused to meet with anyone who asked to speak with him about the behavior of his employees and who obviously condones this behavior. Not only will I never come back, I will make it a point to tell everyone I know, and everyone I don’t know about this embarrassment in Torrance. In case anyone from the city of Torrance wants it, my friend got most of this on her video phone.

Pros: cheap drinks in a trailer park environment

Cons: racisst, rude, violent staff
