What People Are Saying About Fisherman's Outlet Seafood

In Short – This fish emporium attracts businessmen, laborers and soul-food aficionados--proof is in the line that snakes out the door, and the patio with almost every seat filled. The line moves quickly, however, as customers shout out orders and clerks respond in kind once dishes are prepared. There are breaded and fried sand dabs, shrimp and fish, as well as charbroiled versions, including lobster, sea bass and catfish. The market sells fresh fish, shrimp and some pre-made menu items.
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- Fridays are the busiest and typically require patrons to obey posted signs to share tables.
- Save Time:
- Order by phone in advance for lunches of 10 or more and they'll be ready without the wait. (Not available on Fridays).
- Parking:
- There's a large free lot south of the restaurant accessible from either Central or Ceres Street in the rear. Meters are also available on both streets.
- Save Time:
- The market sells chowders, seafood salads, seviches, drinks and desserts without long lines.

Great Inexpensive Seafood
by pburstyn
You lika da fish? This place has a pretty simple menu, but they do it right. They have a lot of great fried fish plates, and a bevy of grilled fish. Had the halibut steak on the grill. Really big piece of fish with a nice garlic butter sauce which is quite yummie. They have a grilled jumbo shrimp, kind of an oxymoron, but this thing is like a small lobster tail and the smokey grill taste is really good. Had their lobster bisque which was nice, and had little pieces of lobster in it, which you would expect. All in all, I enjoyed the experience and would recommend this place again. Bon Apetite!

Great food, lots of oil

I am giving them a five star cause their food absolutely taste great. But they do put a lot of oil in it so if you health cautious, it may not be the best place for you.
Best Sea Bass EVER
by chlorine53
The Fisherman's Outlet is my all-time favorite seafood restaurant. From the guys memorizing 15 different orders to the tastiest cajun sauce I've ever had, this place is an A+++++++. I go to LA for business meetings at least once a month, and always eat lunch at the Fisherman's Outlet. Hopefully they expand to San Francisco someday!
- Pros: Food, Value
- Cons: Wait time
Holy Yum!! The best seafood in the U.S.!!!!
by bette1stl
Went the other day to Fisherman's Outlet, after I'd driven past it and was reminded of having come to a similar place (turns out it was the same place!) with my mom years earlier. Chose Fisherman's Outlet over the nearby Catch 21 because of the packed parking lot. Holy *&^@#$!!!! It was by far THE BEST, freshest frigging sea bass I've ever eaten (along with Mariscos Mazatlan in Cabo San Lucas). We stuffed ourselves silly with fried shrimp ($7 for tons of large, plump, delicious shrimp), soup (the red chowder), and sea bass with rice. Get it with cajun sauce on the side or in butter garlic sauce. Both are so incredible, you'll dream about it until the next time you go back. I am the kind of person who will drive and hour and a half to Ventura to get to Neptune's Net. Now I don't have to! WOO HOO! A perfect 10.
- Pros: Best Seafood I have EVER had in LA hands down.
- Cons: Only open for lunch!
Get there early and enjoy
by karljones
If you can get there before 11:30AM, youve got it made. My favorites is the charbroiled jumbo (and I mean JUMBO) scallop and shrimp combination. A small "creamy white" to go along with it, and I am totally useless at work after lunch.
- Pros: I like it... that's good enough.
- Cons: It's a bit over-rated in that it attracts as many people as it does.
