Just a short distance (and a few Catalina-tiled steps) off the beach sits the Vista Del Mar. Large, arched windows and ocean-view balconies dominate the hotel's French Mediterranean-styled facade. Opt for a courtyard room instead, and you'll be treated to a sun-dappled atrium overflowing with palms and orchids. The lobby retains views of the water as well as a large aquarium with tropical fish to draw the outdoors inside.

The Details
The 15 rooms in the hotel are comfortable and clean, with muted decor. All rooms have a gas fireplace, cable TV and VCR, terry robes, hair dryer, wet bar with fridge and coffeemaker. Guests are tempted with fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evenings and the complimentary continental breakfast offers a variety of light breakfast options. With Catalina's main street right outside, there are plenty of dining and nightlife options close by.

Great place. I've stayed at this Hotel about half a dozen times in the off-season including one weekend in the ocean view suite. It is THE perfect place for a couple to reconnect. Avalon in the off-season is everything California was 30 years ago and then some and this Hotel makes it all the more enjoyable.
