Rude and discriminatory – So I'm currently a member of 24 Hr Fitness and have been getting fed up with the aging equipment and begin my search for a new gym. Today, my friend, who is in better shape than half of their trainers, talked me into going to Gold's Gym to try it out. The equipment is dated but in decent condition and it wasn't crowded which i find rather strange. but a good thing none the less. Had a great cardio workout and we began lifting weights. half way through the weight training the general manager and the member service lady come downstairs and ask to speak to us. In the middle of the gym they tell us they they have a no tolerance policy for outside trainers. I was like excuse me? He is not a trainer, he is a workout partner that is trying to get me to join your gym. The young, VERY RUDE lady proceeded to tell me "well seeing someone with your physique and someone with his physique working out together is all we have to go on. he was spotting you and twice corrected your form so e can only assume he is a trainer." My jaw hit the floor. So a big guy is not allowed to have a work out partner that's in good shape? And did you just call me fat???? The general manager called my workout partner a liar saying that he could tell that he was a trainer. My workout partner is an IT guy like me. So my friend says ok well then we will finish our workout separately. The general manager said no... you have to leave. So basically they call me fat and called us both liars and told us we had to leave because we were working out together. Isn't the whole point of having a workout partner, is so you both have someone to workout with and help you with spotting and form and motivation??? I was extremely offended and will never set foot in a Gold's Gym ever again. 24 hr fitness may not have the best equipment but they don't have a bunch of rude a$$holes working for them. I will be contacting the regional manager as well as corporate to notify them of the discriminatory actions of that gym.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible – They raise monthly dues without notice and treat a 10 year customer like dog feces. Avoid at all costs!!!
Despite its Hollywood connections, this franchise's focus is on pumping iron, not newfangled razzle-dazzle. – In Short
The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.
