great local place, great new aquarium, little kids, beautiful exhibits, great staff, great collection, always fun seals
So much to see & do. I could spend all day here took my nephew and he loved it, they have great stuff for the kids to do and as an adult i did not find it to boring myself! great day out and not overpriced.
Great Family Fun & Learning. This is one place you don't want to miss. Great for the family as they have weekly activities for children to attend and participate in. I bought a yearly pass which is very affordable and allows me to attend all of their special events. Their special events also cover the different cultures in and around the Los Angeles County area.
So so place.
We went there Today..
pros
-fish collection is good, you can look at them closely and touch them, staff is knowledgeable..
-food was good
-this is mostly for family and who are really into sea creatures..
-can finish it in 3 hrs..
cons
-parking is cash only, THIS IS THE FIRST TOURIST PLACE I VISITED WHICH DOES NOT ACCEPT CARD FOR PARKING
-it took us 45 min to search for ATM and park
-no ATM machine nearby
Love Love Love the OTTERS!.
We went this past week (on a Thursday). My toddler LOVED it.
If you are going on a weekday do not go before noon...too many school kids. Your child will have to maneuver his way to see things. After lunch it was nicer...kids were all gone and I was able to let my child just walk up to the exhibits with no problems.
We brought lunch with us and ate outside in the Sea Lion Exhibit. Bring extra clothes for your kids cause there is a water play area and the kids are sure to get wet.
Parking is $8
WAYS TO SAVE:
Most Fridays they have FREE entrance to Shark Lagoon from 6pm - 9pm. You go through a side entrance and you have access to the outside area and see the shark tank with live music. I wouldn't drive to do this (or pay for parking), but if I was already in the area I definitely would.
GOLDSTAR has tickets for $15.50 for Adult, $9 per child to visit from 3pm - 6pm (perfect time)
READY SET GROW LA has coupons you can print out....save $6 Adult $2 Child
VISIT LONG BEACH has coupons you can print out...save $3 Adult $1.50 per Child

Great place for people of all ages. A great place for learning for people of all ages. in addition, you get to see a wide variety of animals from sea lions, to sharks and bat rays. They also have a great outdoor viewing area.
Fabulous Interactive Fun.
In California on business. Had the weekend free, so I thought I'd checkout the harbor & aquarium. Luckily I checked out their website & found a very valuable $10 off coupon! So if you're planning a visit, be sure to checkout the website.
The displays were fairly large and wide-open providing enough room for viewing & to see plenty of fish! Although the sharks were interesting and the seals were fun, my favorite display has to be the all of the jellyfish displays! They are all so beautiful!
The only drawback is the expense; you've got to pay to park, pay admission, pay to feed some of the animals, etc...adds up quickly.
Great place to see sea life. This is one of the best Aquariums in Southern California. They have beautiful exhibits, friendly staff and an incredible shark lagoon. It is fun for all ages. This is a great way to get up close and personal with some great sea life.
Great for the kids!. This is a great place to take the kids and/or family. There's such a variety of different species of all kind of water mammals and aquatic life. They have great tours you can take, and lots of videos available as well. It'll take you a few hours to go through this aquarium, but definitely worth it!
Nice Surprise. This is a great attraction for little kids. My 18 month old was amazed by the fish and all the sea life. A little bit pricey and nothing close to the Monterey Aquarium but not a bad substitute if you can't get there. This is the first time I was there and there were lots of peope not too many places to eat you're better off going to pine street and having a nice meal.
This place rocks. Yes it is a little pricey.....BUT.....It is a nonprofit facility. There are a lot of volunteers that work there also EVERYONE that works there seem to be happy to be there, and well informed. Even the people that work in the cafe. I like the fact that it is not huge, and commercially motivated. Don't get me wrong, I love, I mean love Disneyland, but the AoP is in a class all by itself. I have been twice. The first time was really crowded. I'll admit I had to be patient, and tolerant, but I still enjoyed it. The second time I went, today, was awesome. We got there around 2ish. Wasn't crowded at all. At 4:30 my 6 year old niece, and I went to the shark, and stingray petting area and made some friends. Literally. We were there till closing at 6pm. After a while they get used to you. They were like puppies. The sharks would swim up over my fingers so I could tickle their bellies, and the smaller stingrays would stop for a long back rub. The best was the BIG stingrays in the bigger pool who love their noses rubbed. So cute. They would come over to me, and turn their little noses up to get rubbed!! My niece was dying to pet the Rays, but was scared. One of the girls there came down from her podium and coached her through it, so sweet of her. I can't stress enough to only go during the week after 2pm. Also we took the train from Pasadena. Kind of a long trip, but worth it. The Aquarium.....kind of pricey, but worth it!
