view & uploadgreat happy birthday song, good food, good atmosphere, not big seafood fan, great seafood, excellent crab, happy plate
The Torture of Noriega.
Wanted to take a visiiting couple out by the sea for a nice visit and food. The server was excellent, most of the food was ok, not great or reasonable for what it was, and the obnoxious 'music' was so dam loud we couldn't even talk across the table without yelling.
Asked manager if the music could be lowered said that he didn't know how to do that. Felt like a Panamanian dictator being driven out, and out it is for us. Never ever again.
Good Seafood. Joe Crab Shack is a good place to come if you like getting your hands dirty and indulging in seafood. The food is pretty good, they have a nice selection on their menu. Casual place and just a fun atmosphere.
A colorful seafood restaurant for kids of all ages--especially the younger ones..
In Short
Admittedly kitschy, unavoidably noisy, this Red Lobster for rug rats is like an oversized seaside shanty awash in oceanic memorabilia--fishing nets, souvenir trinkets, plastic flotsam and jetsam. Staffed with a lively crew of G-rated table-dancing servers, the family-friendly chain anchors its menu in all things crab: Crab balls, crab cakes, crab dip, crab gumbo. Finicky children opt for corndogs or hamburgers; shellfish-phobic adults dine on rib eye steak or mesquite-grilled chicken.
Satisfied that seafood craving. When I've got a craving for great seafood we, oftentimes, have to put up with paying extravagant prices in a too-formal setting for not-so-great-food. Joe's makes dining out on seafood fun and relaxed. We live in Northeast LA and Long Beach isn't a neighborhood we frequent often, but we will make the occasional trip to Joe's. It's definitely worth it.
My siblings loved this place. I brought my younger siblings to this place, and I think they really enjoyed being the focal point of the service. Most places treat kids like an extension of their parents, who will inevitably be ordering and paying for them, but our server helped the little ones through the menu and made them comfortable. I loved the crab gumbo.
Mostly for the Kids. I'm not a big seafood fan but my wife swears by the BBQ'd Dungenes Crab. I usually stick to surf and turf dishes and the pretty decent bar. The main draw however is the attention paid to the kids. They have a great time and always make a happy plate.
A Fun Place to Eat. Joe's Crab Shack is a fun place to eat. It is loud and there are always lots of celebrations going on. The staff sings and dances. This is not a place for a quiet date! The crab is excellent - juicy and priced right. I never can get to dessert because I'm always full. It is busy on the weekends - expect to wait.
