You don't see enough bars like this anymore. When I first went to Joe Josts my girlfriend took me there for the pickled eggs as we both have a "thing" for them. What a great place to spend an afternoon. Highly recommended by me are the Liverwirst sandwiches, made on rye bread are excellent. Washed down with a couple of ice cold schooners, you can't go wrong.

Old School at it's FINEST!!!!. What an absoutely wonderful place!! The joint was filled will friendly locals just enjoying a good old Sunday. Beertenders were friendly and attentive (it's nice to see someone who enjoys there job). Beer was COLD and the Place WARM (as in friendly). It's a shame I live in Burbank (or maybe a good thing) or I'd probably become part of the decor. When you're ever in Long Beach - YOU GOTTA GO!!!!!

No substitute!. Joe's is my favorite bar, hands-down. The crowd is friendly and fun, and never too crowded or too sparse. The peanuts, pickled eggs, and hot peppers are one-of-a-kind (I don't eat meat, but I hear the Joe's Special is wonderful). And you can't beat Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap! Every day (and time of day) is a different experience, and they're all great. The pool tables are cheap (sometimes free!) and have lots of rooms for friends to hang out. Leave your attitude at home, and just come here to hang out and have a cold brewski. It's the best.

Historic Long Beach tavern and billiards bar with a dedicated local following.. The Scene
Established as a barbershop during Prohibition, this old-fashioned pub is a beloved landmark for multiple generations of Long Beach natives. Die-hard regulars are mostly hard-working folk who hunker down in the deliciously fragrant front room to eat, drink and be merry. The high-ceiling back room often lures in college-age patrons with several turn-of-the-century Brunswick pool tables and a matching, full-size snooker table.

The Draw
In 1924, the pub's namesake created the renowned house specialty: a Polish sausage with Swiss cheese, mustard and pickle on rye. Those who really want to blend in will pair this hearty treat with a perfectly pickled egg and frothy schooner of beer. After a few drinks (or during commercial breaks), bar regulars show newcomers their photo on the vast Wall of Fame, which displays snapshots of customers at worldwide landmarks, from Stonehedge to the Great Wall of China, proudly sporting a Joe Jost's T-shirt.

Joe's Rules. You can't beat Joe's. From the wood paneling, sawdust on the floor, pictures on the wall, PBR on tap, pickled eggs & liverwurst sandwiches, one can't help being charmed by this wonderful working man's bar. They do lock the doors after dark though so you'll have to knock. Go often, Buy a T-shirt.

Rough!. Rough place, in a rough area, and it's a REAL treasure. It's a local hole-in-the-wall, with a little food and a few kinds of beer. Neither is outstanding, but you don't go there for the food, and the beer is perfectly beerful.

What gives this place it's local popularity is the....interesting ambiance. It's OLD, and it looks like it. It's a great place to hang out at with friends over a few beers. It's also very hard to get into after work or weekend afternoons (it's that popular).

local hangout. This is a great local hangout. This is one of the oldest establishments in LB so you can really get a feel for the history of the place when you get inside. The people are friendly, the service good and overall it is a great place to hangout.
