I had a great experience at Spa Xanadu. The staff is very professional, and the therapists are licensed. I was able to enjoy the treatment that I got.
I really wasted my time and money
by w011
I hate to write a bad review, it's just not me. This my first ever, because I feel so strongly and am so bothered by my experience.
I was at this spa yesterday afternoon for an eyelash extension. I told the girl I had this done before at 2 different places, one was good, one was bad, and what I liked and disliked about both. She assured me she's very experienced and detailed oriented.
While she worked on me, she constantly talked about herself meeting guys through match and wanting to find an older white man who's financially stable and can afford her and asked me numerous times to introduce her to someone. She also tried several times to sell me on other treatments and products. And she told me I NEED to go back in 1-2 weeks for eyelash refill. I said in my past experience, I went back 6-8 weeks, and still looked decent at 8 weeks. She said it was up to me, most of her clients go back 1-2 weeks. Now I know why. First, they charge $20 more for every week you don't go back starting at $40 for 2 weeks, so $60 at 3 weeks, $80 at 4 weeks. And more importantly, her work does NOT last even for 2 hours. I did not touch or get anything on my eyes, they are already falling off as I was leaving the spa.
After she was done, I looked in the mirror and I didn't look glamorous like I remember I did the last many times I had eyelash extensions and refills done. I thought maybe it's just me... but really, they looked dull and somewhat fake. I also can see them when my eyes are fully open. She tried to push them up and didn't work. She end up saying my own eyelashes are naturally pointing downwards, and they are not easy to work with and that's the way they are going to be, she thinks they will be okay and I will get use to them. But I never saw the extensions in the past even when they were much more fuller and long lasting.
After I got home, I looked closely in the mirror, 3 eyelashes at each eye were just hanging and about to fall off. I picked the 6 off easily with a tweezer. Then I realized how she didn't glue a lot of the eyelashes right. They are glued not at the end close to my skin, but somewhere in the middle of a lash. To start with, they were suppose to be glued to new short lashes for them to last longer, not just any lash to stay on temporarily. And I think that's why they are bothering me and waking me up to write this review at 5 am. And that wasn't the only 6 that came off, I have had 8 more that came off since then and it's only been 14 hours since they were placed.
I feel like I really wasted my time and money at this place. The facility was clean, but not as high end as their pricing, and the staffs were not friendly at all. I really don't want to go back and I need to go somewhere to take all these lashes off. They are just poking and bother my eyes.
- Pros: clean
- Cons: bad work, unfriendly staff, pricy for what they are
Average Experience
by Enu815
I would rate Spa Xanadu as an average experience --for both massage and facial. I got the 1 hour Xanadu massage -- and well, I was not very impressed at all -- it was okay and I don't know how to pin point as to why it wasn't GREAT, it just wasn't what I'm used to ? The facial was the same .
The staff was friendly though and I didn't get a sales pitched as to what I should get or buy --they recommended some items but did not push. The steam room was not turned on :( but we didn't get the mandantory 15-20% gratuity pitch. Overall I just felt that the service/spa treatment was just "meh... average" I probably will not go back though since I'm got the Burke and Williams weekday card -- which will bring the price down to about the same range Spa Xanadu charges.
- Pros: parking was easy (in the back)
- Cons: average service
A Special Place
by daisywash
I celebrated my birthday with a spa package at Spa Xanadu and I am glad I did. The staffs there were very friendly and courteous. My appointment was on time, done right and professional. I was not rush or feel pressured. It was very nice and relaxing. They offer variety of facial and body treatments that I can select from. This is a place that I will keep going back and not get tired of.
- Pros: variety of facial and body treatments
- Cons: parking
High Prices, Low Quality, Sales Pressure and Noisy
by pikachu
I'm ok with paying high prices. It's not like I get treatments everyday. Xanadu charges high prices, but the services I received was not worth it. I came here on a promotion and I'll never come back again. The put a mandatory gratuity % over the regular price. In addition to that, the steam room was not even on. I turned it on, waited 20 minutes for it to warm up. I wanted to go into the Jacuzzi while I waited, but was told that swimsuits are mandatory. Why didn't they tell me that when I booked the appointment? I ended up sitting in a quiet room watching TV for half an hour. When my appointment finally started, my therapist tried to sell me cellulite cream. I'm a 30 year old female who has never been pregnant and have no cellulite. My therapist focused our session not on relaxation, but on products I SHOULD buy if I want to prevent having cellulites in the near future. So Let me get this straight, I'm spending money to listen to a sales pitch? It was NOT relaxing for me at all. In addition to that, the whole time, I can hear another therapist's cell phone ringing, I can also hear that therapist chit chatting on the cell phone, and warming her food in the microwave at the same time. For those people who wrote good reviews, I really challenge them to go to another spa. You don't have to believe what I wrote, but if you been to other spas, try this one once and you'll regret it.
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Price, Service, Sales Pressure, Noise, Facility
