Attention Students!. Higley's has been a great coffee joint for the student cramming before an exam. Unlike a lot of coffee shops that have it in for the student just trying to get their learnin' on, Higley's offers group study rooms and the staff doesn't mind if you park yourself at a table for a few hours while you try to find out Nietzsche's 'ascetic ideals'. Their sandwiches offer sandwhiches

Joe by day, Java by night. By day, Higley's is a haven for quiet readers, browsers, and sippers -- with stuffed chairs and couches, shelves of used books (stocked by Book Alley in Pasadena), tables and chairs with chessboards and unfolded newspapers. At night, the crowds gather inside and on the sidewalk. Higley offers a variety of desserts and coffees, and an cup you can fill (and refill for 50 cents) yourself at the stand of coffee-filled thermoses at the counter.
