Terrible Manager.
What a terrible manager!
I visit Montrose once a month for my dermatologist appointment. I do not live in this area. I went to Star Caf
I was impressed. I felt bad because i came in pretty close to the closing time, but my server was still very sweet and accomadating. The ceasar salad was very fresh and had giant shavings of parmesan. I ordered the apricot glazed chicken for my entree. It was absolutely fabulous. It was a breast of chicken cooked to perfection topped with a an apricot salsa, the sides were a pasta and fresh crunchy vegetables. I loved the dish it was fantastic and every thing complimented the other very nice. There was garlic in the pasta and at first i was skeptical with the glaze but it was terrific. My waitress gave me exceptional service and even though i ordered only water, my glass was never empty! She came by checked on me quite a few times to make sure everything was fine and offered dessert . She was very honest about the selections..which were her favorite and why. I love dessert! so i took home the raspberry chocolate cake. She told me 'do you like raspberry..there is more than just a hint..you can really taste it" I like when my server knows the food. I will definately be coming back. They have a stuffed filet that looked declicious! The price is a little high..but I could probably spend the same at another place and get tood not nearly as good. So ..in conclusion. It's a great area, convient parking. You should at least give it a try..i know i was pleasantly surprised!
Could be better. I had a breakfast at Star Cafe once. Our meals were fresh, well prepared and tasty, except for a fruit mixture on the breakfast plate. The mixture had watermelon in it that smelled bad and gave a trash can flavor to the whole dish. The design of the place is awkward: the dining room is narrow, the counter is turned to the public and one can observe waiters backs all the time. It did not make me comfortable at all. If I owned the place, I would redesigned it and reinvent the menu.
Unimpressive. Granted I've only eaten here once - and am not planning on going back - so take my lackluster recommendation with a grain of salt. It was a hot afternoon and I was not about to order pasta, but we chose this restaurant among the numerous joints on Honolulu Ave. because there were many diners already there...Ordered a BLT and had to send it back because the bread was soft and ridiculously sweet (I think it's the house bread), asking instead for wheat toast. Nothing remarkable - I make a far better BLT at home. Fruit salad was a little tired. Green salad was fine. Slightly less appealing than the food we ate was the restaurant's attempt to be unique with the decor. Sawdust they lay fresh every day on the floor? Not sure what the effect is they're trying for, but it doesn't suit me. I would rather know the floor is clean.
Must TRY!. I would say that its a must to try the chicken tequila and spinach fettucini and the handmade chicken ravioli. Great place for late dining. However parking can be a problem sometimes.
Good pizza, decent entrees. Star Cafe is our family's "back-up" restaurant if the nearby Black Cow Cafe is too crowded or closed. The pizza at Star is the way to go. The rest of the menu is decent. If they happen to be serving the wild mushroom soup when you visit, by all means try it! The upstairs outdoor patio is nice and the decor is pleasant.
Four Stars for this cafe........ This has to be my favorite place to eat, although I usually find myself ordering take-out or calling to have something delivered. My favorite is the baked salmon and I will always order a Cesear salad to take for lunch the next day. The Rosemary Chicken and Potato pizza is a good choice too. They serve fresh garlic rolls with everything and they have a good Tiramisu for desert, but I am always too full to eat one by myself. It's just right for sharing though.
Good food. Their specialty pizza is a must try. I love the bbq pizza and the outdoor dining. Nice surroundings. Great service
Good Food. I went there for a Luncheon and the food was great. Definately one of the better places in the area. The service was good.
