Great for a pipe smoke, at best

The location rocks! But the coffee sucks. I just wrote about them on my blog: COFFEEwithChuck (won't allow full urls here).

It's still worth it for me to visit, once every few months - just to get out of the house. But I'd recommend just getting a juice or something. and enjoying the outdoor seating. ;-)

• Pros: amazing view, beautiful brick siding, nice view, etc.
• Cons: coffee sucks, food isn't great either, service not the best

Happy Experience

I've visited Kaldi's with my brother three times and will be returning again. The staff I encountered were very pleasant and helpful. Our drinks were perfect. Great atmosphere!

Poor Attitudes! Weak coffee!

I gave them the benefit of the doubt, by visiting 3 times, and each experience more unpleasant than the last. Owner please tell the staff to fix the attitudes. They don't have to be phony or anything, but a little interest in service and their customers would be fine. I mean I'm an easy customer - Black Coffee!!!

Hostile employees! Avoid this place!

It's a cute place in a great location, but the people who work there are so weird and incredibly hostile! I mean they aren't just disinterested and sullen - they are outright HOSTILE! I was in there getting a cup of coffee, and a woman pushing a baby in a stroller came in and asked where she could find an ATM. They told her to go to a location about 6 blocks away. When I was leaving I saw there was a small ATM right next to the door! I put my card in and it was working just fine. What the heck was THAT all about? Baby-haters maybe? Poor distracted mother! I'll never go there again. Go to Nicole's Gourmet Food a block west down El Centro instead. The food is better and the service is great.

Its all about the patio.

The coffee is terrible and the baked goods are sub-par, buts lets face it, that doesn't stop South Pasadena's hip generation of twenty-something socialites from flocking to this neighborhood hot spot. Chain smoke cigarettes, argue politics and film, engage in a make-shift bridge tournament, or let the hours and days pass by at this home-away-from-home.
