A combination stand-up or sit-down restaurant, this SoCal institution packs orders in paper bags--no matter whether diners are eating in or taking the food to go. Famous for its signature peppery, pink pastrami dip; the thinly shaved meat is griddle-fried and strewn across French rolls, accompanied by dill pickles and mustard. Burgers are served in generous portions and dressed with Thousand Island dressing. A large side order of fries should easily feed a group of four.

This place is to pastrami what White castle is to burgers. Not quite the real thing but tastes great! For true pastrami go to Langers. But this is tasty and relatively cheap. ($6.79 a sandwhich) I'll be back!

Obviously The Hat is renowned for its pastrami. However, do not forget their burgers! We tried them on a whim one day and WOW, they are DELICIOUS! Just great! Yummy beef and fresh cristp lettuce, tomato, onion (all made to order, of course) We are fans of Pie n Burger and Continental Burger and the Hat burgers are easliy just as good. And CHEAP. The pastrami is $6.49, the single burger is $2.49. (you can also get a double burger- enormous). Try the onion rings too- so good!

High-end fast food, in a cheerful setting. And yeah, the Pastrami sandwiches are delicious, but so are the Chili Dogs, and the Roast Beef too... And if you order the Wet Fries, you better have some people with you to help finish eating the order -- they give you enough to feed four people (and that's no exaggeration). .
