really good sushi, great service, good portions, great food, amazing fish, recommend highly, good fried sole
Surprisingly Delightful. After having dined at a myriad of sushi stops in the Pasadena area we found Mizu. A quiet, small restaurant, Mizu is a great place because it offers a variety of delicious fresh sushi and specials at a minimal cost. The portions are perfect, the sushi chefs friendly, and the free dessert oranges soaked in plum wine heavenly. After all of our mediocre experiences at many places around here, we have found ourselves in love with Mizu. It's a lovely place for us to just enjoy ourselves and the food.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Pasadena sushi house serves live seafood and specialty rolls in addition to traditional Japanese. Upscale setting, patio area, happy hour.
Delicious. My friend had recomended Mizu Zushi over a year ago and finally I had the chance to visit it on thanksgiving weekend with my families. Ordered the marinated cod and it was delicious! Also tried their fried sole and tuna salad which were also good. The tuna and halibut sushi was really good and fresh. My husband ordered one of their specialty rolls called Lava Rocks. The best spicy roll he's ever had he said.
Had a good time. One thing that stand out about this place is the freshness of the fish. I'm not suprised if the chef wakes up early to head to the fish market. I had yellow tail sushi, and sea urchin. They just melt in my mouth! The marinated broiled Cod was also outstanding. This place gets especially packed on Friday nights. Any other nights are OK.
THE BEST. This place has very nice selection of items ranging from fresh fish, tempura, to grilled stuff. The food quality was very good and I enjoyed their specialty rolls in particular. The chef was fun to talk to. This place has nice atmosphere that you'd rarely find in other Japanese restaurants. Very romantic but relaxed. One of the best Sushi bars in Pasadena and was the first on Lake avenue if my memory serves me right. I highly recommend this sushi joint without a doubt.
Horrible.. After waiting more than 40 minutes in an sparsely crowded restaurant for our sushi, the server told us that they were out of 2 of the 3 rolls we wanted but did manage to bring us the California roll we ordered almost an hour earlier. We also ordered a grilled bass with tempura, except the tempura came 15 minutes after the bass -but I guess we were lucky that they didn't run out that as well. It probably should have tipped us off when we saw another couple storm out of the restaurant.
Zushi Heaven. By far the best Zushi in Pasadena! A hidden gem in a town full of great restaurants. Try any of the chefs specials and you will be amazed. Great service from the staff. Manager is very attentive and knows how to make her customers feel comfortable. Highly recommended!
Go! Go! Go!. Best Sushi in town. Puts most of the more well-known, larger-than-life sushi establishments to shame. Best service in town. Simple, inviting ambience too. Manager knows how to run a restuarant and make her customers feel welcome. Highly recommend a dinner here.
Outstanding!. Great food, great service. Ask the chef to do his omakase meal--he will amaze you with his creativity. Check out the specials board--they always have something unique (live sea urchin!)
best japanese mackeral I've had. The fish here is amazing. Try the japanese mackeral. It's better than many of the best-reviewed sushi restaurants in LA. They have a good selection of sake too.
