In Short – One woman's love of Asian culture has blossomed into this divine assemblage of art and artifacts from the Far East. Grace Nicholson (1883-1948), a Pasadena art dealer, spent most of her life collecting, and now the museum is the beneficiary of nearly 17,000 of her pieces. You'll find Japanese paintings, textiles and ceramics; Buddhist sculptures; jade carvings and vibrant Chinese ceramics from the Han and Ming dynasties.

The Pacific Asia Museum houses a great collection of Asian artifacts ranging from ancient pottery to modern Chinese art. Parts of the museum were closed for renovations when I went last year, but I found the displays on Chinese ceramics to be particularly interesting. The courtyard in the center of the building is a beautiful quiet place to reflect when you've finished touring the various gallery spaces. The museum also contains a small store, where they sell various Asian-themed items and books. Definitely worth the trip.
