Pasadena >Mezbaan Indian Cuisine
great indian food, really good prices, very friendly staff, bad service, great serv, great wines, best indian buffet
Don't waste your time/money.
Reasons why you shouldn't go here:
1) The service is TERRIBLE. There were more employees than customers our entire visit but it took two of us an hour and a half to get in and out of that place. We had to steal napkins and cutlery off of another table and we had to flag someone down for service if they happened to glance our way. Otherwise they just walked around as if nobody was there. They even gave our bill to the wrong table. With only 3 tables of customer's it seems a difficult thing to get wrong.
2) The food was not worth the price. We got one chicken dish and one vegetarian dish with two orders of naan (since one $2.50 order is only enough for one person). Nothing was spectacular and it was crazy spending over $30 for a few small pieces of chicken, some bread, and some spinach. Maybe if the food was amazing it would be worth it but it just wasn't anything special.
3) They were not friendly. We had a coupon for what was advertised as $15 for $30 worth of food and drinks. When we got there they said we both HAD to get drinks for the coupon to be valid and that it was for 50% off the entire bill. Nowhere on the coupon nor on the website said that. We showed them the coupon and website and they basically just said "them's the rules. You can eat here or leave if you don't like it".
Anyway, we will not be going here again. They left a bad taste in our mouths in more ways than one.
Great Indian food. Tried Mezbaan for the first time and had their lunch buffet. The food was great: the sweet chutney was just right (usually too sweet for my taste), the veggie samosas were enormous, and the spinach stew was really good. They also brought out complimentary naan for the meal. The service was a little on the quiet side, but they were quick and helpful and the overall experience was great. My only complaint was that the dishes were a little on the dirty side; I had to go through two or three plates stacked for the buffet customers before I found one that didn't have anything on it. I'd go back and recommend it to others...but maybe bring some wet wipes with me....
good indian food.
good indian food
my husband & i visited this place, had buffet for lunch.
it was great, specially the samosa& onion pakora with
this place is good only for lunch( buffet) , We also went for dinner , ordered some biryani , it was totally waste of money. I recommend this place for lunch( buffet) .
Old Town Pasadena's best Indian food!. My co-workers and I visit the restaurant frequently It has been renovated not too long ago. The restaurant has Excellent food and service in a comfortable atmosphere. I had the Muglai combo (chicken curry, a different type of curry, and a spinach dish). I asked for medium spicing; it could have been a bit spicier for my taste, but was still very good. Nice balance of flavors among the three dishes in the combo. Tempted to visit for happy hour as it now has very much a lounge look to it.
I highly recomend it!. This is the best Indian buffet I have ever been to ( and I've ben to a lot of them) The food does not taste like buffet food, it tastes like fresh, made to order food. They have a wide selection, and numerous items, ever at lunchtime. The prices are really good (less than $& for lunch) and the staff has always been very friendly and accomadatiing. I highly recomend it.
It had been our Indian restaurant.
This was the restaurant that my wife and I would go for Indian food. I agree with the reviews that the services is average, and it is totally outdated decor. However, the food was pretty-pretty-pretty good and I saw a lot of Indian families in there. So, I figured it was probably decent Indian food right?
I also agree that the management is aloof and on one occasion it was the owner or manager that was our server for the evening, he should stay in the back of the house.
Yet, the food was good. Not great. In fact, do not have any of the appetizers, they are not good at all. Also, I like my food spicy. I am a white girl - yes - but bring on the spice and they NEVER have made it spicy enough for me (even though I have asked).
After seeing the R (city search will not allow me to write the word in) review, I am sorry to say that I will probably not go back, rather pound the streets of LA looking for my new Indian restaurant.
Bad food, bad service.
Poor service - took them 15 minutes to just fill our water glasses and we had to go up to them and ask them to take our order...
Poor food - Don't know where to begin...the tandoori chicken was cold, the mango lassi was watered down, the paneer was horrible, the shrimps in the shrimp curry were the size of peas
BAD MANAGEMENT - told the manager on the way out that we were unhappy with the quality of food and service and her response was "Our food and service is always good!"
Never going back there.
dirty. I've been here a few times, and it's pretty standard Indian food. However the last time I was there, I saw a r oach on the table cloth. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he said it must have come in from the outside. Funny, as it was one of the tables closest to the kitchen door. I got up and walked out, and I don't think I'll ever go back.
Good service. The food here is decent, but portions are a little on the smaller side. It seems like there was a little bit of a mix up as servers tried to take our order twice, but forgot to bring us water. I'm sure it was a small mistake. Our server had some nice recommendations for us, and all were helpful.
