The Scene
The elegant, though slightly worn, dining room is reminiscent of a fine bistro, with brick-red walls, black-lacquer accents and white-clothed tables. Attentive servers don't miss a beat; water glasses are always full and meals are deftly distributed among the table. A mix of loyal locals and off-the-street diners avoiding the Cheesecake Factory line up almost every night.
The Food
Kang and his adept crew fuse traditional Chinese techniques with non-traditional ingredients, like Parma ham and Mediterranean calamari--the results are both appetizing and eye-catching. The rich enoki and black mushroom soup topped with a red bell pepper painting on snow-white meringue is as delicious as it is beautiful. Slippery dumplings stuffed with ground pork and doused in spicy-sweet chili oil are easy to devour and disappear far too quickly. Moist smoked duck gets the showstopper's treatment as it's deconstructed tableside, wrapped in paper-thin pancakes and beautifully matched with tangy hoisin sauce.

I found this restaurant online. Its rating is pretty attractive. My son and I made a special trip to there for a lunch. What we experienced was not that good. The Chaofan is very oily. I went there for the first time today for lunch. Like the other reviews- the decor is nothing astounding- but it is very pleasant and comfortable. THe service is friendly and efficient- and th FOOD!! Wow! I highly recommend the crispy fish. It comes in fried pieces on a bed of chinese greens. All their food is phenomenal and really pretty to look at. It's a little pricey- but really- the lunch menu wasn't any more than the average restaurant in Pasadena. (Barring the fast food places....) Go!

I have taken many clients here to dine, and they all rave. Not bad for my business or Yujean Kang's! I have been eating here for over 10 years and although the interior is not going to win any awards, the food is going to take the grand prize. Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce. One of the best dishes I have ever had. I order it every time. The entire menu is outstanding and you will never have a bad dining experience here, Best Chinese food in Los Angeles. Take your friends, dates, family and clients. You will never be disappointed. 5 Star Dining.
