It was pretty good, and I don't really like eating Chinese food.

Warning. Yujean Kang's has always been a great place where you can get lunch & dinner, artful, tasty food elegantly served at reasonable prices. But a friend and I had a real problem there: we both got really vicious food poisoning. It just couldn't have come from any other source, unfortunately. I mean, this was spectacular, hours shouting ralph! into the big white telephone. Medical intervention. Both of us felt like we were going to die, so this was in the chicken or the pork. I phoned them. I emailed them. I was polite and didn't ask for anything. Zero acknowledgement, nada. Everyone makes mistakes, but these folks should be more interested in the health of their clientele than they apparently are. I don't care how great they are, I think you go there, you take your life in your hands

Really hands down the best Chinese food I've had in awhile- and I grew up in Taiwan!. I went there for the first time today for lunch. Like the other reviews- the decor is nothing astounding- but it is very pleasant and comfortable. THe service is friendly and efficient- and th FOOD!! Wow! I highly recommend the crispy fish. It comes in fried pieces on a bed of chinese greens. All their food is phenomenal and really pretty to look at. It's a little pricey- but really- the lunch menu wasn't any more than the average restaurant in Pasadena. (Barring the fast food places....) Go!

Just keeps getting better. A classic.. I have taken many clients here to dine, and they all rave. Not bad for my business or Yujean Kang's!

I have been eating here for over 10 years and although the interior is not going to win any awards, the food is going to take the grand prize. Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce. One of the best dishes I have ever had. I order it every time. The entire menu is outstanding and you will never have a bad dining experience here, Best Chinese food in Los Angeles. Take your friends, dates, family and clients. You will never be disappointed. 5 Star Dining.

Delicious. Being chinese, I was skeptical about visiting Yujean but it has such good ratings. I also allow myself to be open and not criticize where the origin of the food should be but rather focus on taste and quality. Living in Los Angeles, food has its share of the diverse influence it resides, it is very hard to know what is authentic or traditional anymore. The food at Yujean was absolutley delicious. We ordered the eggplant with shaved bonito which was stir fried in such high heat that the outside became crispy yet inside was soft and smooth. We also ordered the dim sum sampler which I do not recommend. The meal comes with rice which I wished they used a better quality. It also comes with napa cabbage salad which was very good to start the meal.

POOR SERVICE. I love Yujean's Kang's food. Eventhough the decor of the restaurant is just average, at least the price is fair. I took my parents there on a monday night. It was the worst experience I ever had at Yujean kang's. There was no host to greet guests or answer the phone. We waited at least 10 minutes for someone even came to greet us. The restaurant was full but no server in the dinning room. Finally we saw one lady in the dinning room, I guess she's the manager because she wasn't wearing any uniform, but there is no way to get her attention. It took us three hours to finish our dinner because of the waiting. Our waiter even forgot our dumpling. The restaurant was recently remodeled. The price has increased at least $3 for each item on the menu but there is no service left. I rather have average decor than expensive menu items and poor service. With a manager on floor, I certainly expect more from the service.

Flavorful chinese food served graciously. This is a great place to go if you want flavorful Chinese food. My parents do NOT eat Chinese food because they don't like the flavors anywhere else, but they will eat here over and over again. Some good dishes to try: marinated pressed tofu with chili oil, vegetarian chow mein, and spicy sauteed green beans. The prices are fair and the service is wonderful. We were there on a busy Friday night and were attended to constantly. I will definitely go back here...good food, good value, good service.

Good but not out of this world.... A Chinese American, I have dined at Yugean's for upwards of 10 yrs. The food is stylized-Chinese with some very fine flavors. We always eat the tea-smoked duck AKA duck burritos. Eggplant is also excellent and spicy. We pass on desserts which are an odd take on modern fusion (?) but don't hit the gong. The bigger downside besides the prices is the service. Our last few visits have been marred by lackadasical or slightly incompetent service. This was not the case years ago. It was sufficiently bad that we brought this up with Yugean on last visit; he said the waitress was new...The service is not up to the food, which is a touch short considering the price. They have a large wine list, but we always drink beer which is what the Chinese would do.

another winner..... on raymond! i had been putting off trying this restaurant because i was skeptical. i didn't think it would be an authentic asian restaurant but to my surprise, it was fantastic. the portions were generous and the mini dumplings in chili sauce (appetizer) were so cute and had a great flavor. when this place says prawns, they mean prawns- not the sad, defrosted looking shrimp you find most places. i definitely want to go back because there were many more things i wanted to try. the ONLY bad thing about our experience was that my husband paid (i think) 7.50 or so for tsing tao beer!! not worth it - c'mon it's not THAT good :)
