In Short – The crowd may be young and sometimes rowdy, but the decor--pressed-tin ceiling, massive oak bar, hardwood floors--has a dignified charm about it. The pool table, dartboards and 15 TVs keep patrons busy before the bands plug in every night at 9pm. Once the decibels reach a certain level, beer is the easiest to order. Early comers should take advantage of the quiet time and indulge in McMurphy's potent Irish coffee.
Best pizza on the west coast!

I have to admit, this isn't really my scene. Mostly a college crowd, very loud club music, and the occasional really obnoxious drunk. However, the staff is very friendly, and the pizza! My god. Before I went there, I was told they import the dough from Brooklyn. I had to try it. The rumors were true, and you can find a real taste of New York in Pasadena.
The pizza was amazing, real authentic New York style, and TASTE. Being from NYC, I was skeptical, since most places I've been in California, you'd get just as good a pizza by eating the box, but here, they've got the real thing. The only thing I would reccomend is to ask them to keep it in a little longer than normal to get that true crispy crust.
So if you're looking for a taste of REAL pizza on the left coast, and you're willing to endure the constant pounding of club music to get it, head on over to McMurphy's, and bring your earplugs. You'll be glad you did.
Reading other reviews, I've now found they also make authentic Philly cheesesteak, with bread from the city of brotherly love! Looks like I'll have to go back again this week!
- Pros: Real NY Pizza, great staff, outdoor lounge
- Cons: VERY loud club music, and although a good whiskey selection, that and the name are all that make it an irish pub.
Wow what a change

Somebody must have got the message as they've totally cleaned this place up...they have REALLY cleaned up the crowd at this place...gone (hopefully forever) are the baggy pants set, and now everyone in there seems to be cool...added plus, they have a completely revamped menu that includes authentic NY pizza (by far the best I've had in all of Old Town) and 3 different kinds of cheesesteaks with bread straight from Philly (said the bartender, and it was so good I believe him)...if you haven't been there in a while, you should definitely give it another shot...great chill atmosphere
- Pros: Great food, reasonable prices, chill atmosphere
- Cons: parking, not enough restrooms
Glad they cleaned it up ...they have Pizza too!

Been there over the years. Saw it through it's best and bad times. Things have changed! Went back last week with some buds and had a great time. The new Pizza is by far one of the best in Pasadena...LOL! An Irish bar with Pizza, but the Pizza rocked. The girls were looking A LOT better. Did hear that their Sunday Night's are coming back this month. Drinks are still strong and they did have some beer specials. Will be coming back really soon for some more. I'm glad that they got rid of the cholo/ghetto crowd. It hurt the place for a good year or two.
Pros: Pizza, Drinks, Women and the Staff.
Cons: Waiting in line to get in, Bathrooms..not enough.
one more thing - They have some of the best looking women that aren't stuck-up or full of themselves... I might just meet my future wife there.
