very good dish pizza, great lunch place, cool tardy service, slow worst service, great food, fantastic cute atmosphere, great toppings
Terrible Catering.
I placed a catering order and was quoted prices off of their old menu. When the food arrived, it was not only luke warm, but they had left off the key item in my order (a lasagna). When I called to ask where it was, they claimed I hadn't ordered it and charged me a delivery fee *again* to deliver it. By that time it was 40 minutes late and my event was basically over.
Not only this, but I was charged according to their *new* prices not the prices I was quoted. The difference was only $20, but when I called to complain about the late food and the mis-quoting of prices, the lady on the phone was very rude about it and refused to do anything to rectify the situation.
The food tasted ok, but was not worth the price or the terrible service. With all the other places to get catered Italian food in town, don't waste your time with these people.
Great Pizza but service left something to be desired.
Ordered the Sicilian Pizza (pepperoni, canadian bacon, jalape?os, onion), it was delicious.
Decor inside was nice but cramped towards the section leading to the bathroom. The food took an exceptional amount of time to arrive (more than 30 minutes). To make matters worse, the server, while not rude, was extremely slow. Lastly, the temperature inside made it feel as if I was a pizza cooking in the oven.
Despite the lack of cool air and tardy service I would still recommend the pizza...if you have an abundance of time.
just an fyi: restaurant does not serve ranch or ketchup
Editorial Review. The Kitchen Italian Cafe and Pizzeria, in Pasadena, serves delicious pizzas, salads, calzones and other Italian favs.
Worst service ever the manager is rude and unaccommodating.. We have gone to eat here on several occasions and the service has always been terrible. The service is slow the orders are messed up. I am not one complain too much but when management is rude and unhelpful it is hard not to. Please save yourself and DO NOT EAT here ever. There are much better options in the area
Excellent Deep Dish Pizza.
When I moved to LA from Chicago I went through pizza withdrawals. I tried soooo many places, but everything was average, at best. I really don't understand why everyone likes Abbott's. It tastes like mall pizza to me. Anyway...
My favorite pizza in the world is Giordano's thin crust with pepperoni and sausage. I ate the deep dish occasionally, but I preferred the thin crust. With that said, The Kitchen has amazing deep dish pizza. I couldn't get enough once I tried it. The pepperoni has a lot of flavor and the sausage is amazing. Of course, the cheese is piled high too. Not only is the pizza good, but the restaurant itself has great atmosphere and it's good for people watching. It's one of my favorites in the LA area, along with Paoli's (deep dish) in Woodland Hills and D'Amores (thin crust) in Canoga Park.
caned food is better.
simply bad food
the gravy and the sause was caned ,nothing was fresh
the chicken was over cooked.
it is not an italian food it is a bad American food.
Awesome Pizza at a Low Price.
I paid a visit to this place on my lunch break and ordered a slice of mushroom and a slice of pepperoni pizza -- very good.
The slices are only $2 each (cheese only). A quarter for each additional topping.
The service is friendly and honest (I asked the owner if he preferred New York style or Sicilian, he said New York).
I'll probably be coming back here again to try one of the calzones.
Good Value, Good Food. Not pretentious, not too busy; both things that are hard to find in Old Town. This has great food; the Chicken Parmesean is very good, Garlic Bread was only so-so. I haven't tried the Pizza yet but definitely will after reading all the raves here.
Yum!. I travel all over the country and the service at The Kitchen is as good if not better than the kind of service you get in the midwest...and the food is even better than the service! We got the Brushetta as an appetizer, it was excellent! I got the penne pomodoro and my associated got the roasted chicken, both were perfect! The potatoes on the side of the chicken were to die for and unfortunately we were too full for dessert. I hope to return to Pasadena soon so I can enjoy the atmosphere and especially the food at The Kitchen!
Nice little place. While wandering around Old Town Pasadena in search of a place to eat, we happened upon The Kitchen. We're very happy we did. The service was quick. Our waitress was amazingly attentive and seemed genuinely happy to be there. She was quite impressive, actually. We'll definitely be going back sometime soon!
