Beautiful wares. I have to admit...I have only spent money at the Metro Art Store twice although I have to go through here every time I'm in Old Pasadena. Just viewing the jewelry designs gives me inspiration in my own jewelry work...not to copy mind you...but in color and style...a gathering of gold here or a use of Chinese red there. There's always something new and beautiful to see at this great gift store.

The Goods
Great art has been converted here into more commonplace media, from stationery and tableware to men's ties and ladies' scarves. You'll ooh and ahh over the exquisite, historically inspired jewelry (which can be pricey) and the luminous, Tiffany-style stained-glass window panes. There's a terrific collection of art books (many based on recent Met exhibits), as well as calendars, note cards, prints and posters highlighting world-famous paintings, and educational toys and games for kids. The range of artistic periods and styles encompassed is large, so every shopper, whether a Cubist kook or Degas devotee, can find something to love.
