Editorial Review for Brookside Golf Course – by Lee Parker
In Short
Tucked away in Pasadena's verdant Arroyo Seco, Brookside is home to two Bobby Bell-designed, 18-hole public courses--the popular Koiner course and the shorter Nay course. The courses are popular with well-heeled locals, but welcome all players. The site of the 1969 Los Angeles Open, it's still a favorite among pros as well as serious amateurs who gather here for the annual Pasadena Amateur Championship.

We were paired with two women WAY better then us. I’m intermediate my GF is a beginner. So we are on whole number on our second stoke playing time less then 2 minutes. When the team behind us just up and passes us, which is FINE with me. However then 2 minutes later we are finishing up the first hole on the green and this guy comes by and says you were already passed by 4 peoples “1 group” if you can’t keep up pick up your golfballs and move on. So I’m annoyed at this point but manage to keep my mouth shut. We get to hole number 2 and the people in front of us “that passes us” were finishing up Ting off so we are waiting on them. They take off and have not even taken their second stroke yet when napoleon comes by to give us a hard time again “keep in mind we have not t’d off yet” he gets on my girlfriends case. So I walk up to him and say I did not pay money to listen to you tell me how to spend my Sunday afternoon for 5 hours. So he goes away annoyed. So we are finishing up the 2nd hole and they send this woman by obviously it was the wrong time of the month for her and she is like oh you all are doing ok but pick up the speed. So we rush along to the 3rd hole where the team in front of us is still t’ing off and were patiently waiting our turn and the woman starts to harass us again my GF was not around but she said you are doing find but your GF is the slowest so tell her to pick it up. She finally left us alone after like the 4th hole but SUCH a bad experience. If we are paying close to 100.00 for the two of us we should be able to relax and A. not be rushed along and B. not be harassed. By whole 10 we had had enough and there were 2 other groups behind us waiting and we were waiting for 2 groups in front of us. I would highly highly highly recommend you go somewhere else HORRIBLE place.
Pros: The guy in the pro shop was great
Cons: Everythign Staff, Poor greens I have nothing positive to say about it.

Ahh, the smell of the moist AM air, the breeze to your back and the site of trash and tire marks mad me pissed. To top it off, the staff proudly made it aware that a change or refund could not be given .This place has one of the worst staffs I have ever experienced and they have the belief it seems to me that " people will keep coming no matter what". I felt my money to them was going towards payroll and not the quality of the course. The sad part for them is the fact that someone recommended to me to play here becasue I would want to have a few tournaments here for my clients. I'm happy to say I learned well before I made a commitment and hope noone returns here.
Pros: Not one
Cons: Rude staff, Horrible upkeep, Too much $$$
