yes, they take credit cards!. Amazing, i know ! frickin' sounds Crazy: chicken w/waffles, but seriously, awesome. wish that i could've benn a fly on the wall here, when jeremy jones' partaking. not that there are any flies on thw walls. or on Any wall. aw jeez, nevermind....
Great Lunch Spot. My friends and I came here for a leisurely lunch, just to chat and get caught up on life's details. The service was nice, the atmosphere was intimate enough, and the food was great. My friends and I ended up eating off each other's plates because the portions were that big and the selections among us were a bit diverse. The wings there are GREAT and the side orders are seasoned well. All in all, I'll definitely be back soon.
A cholesterol-drenched guilty pleasure..
The Scene
Roscoe's offers no-frills decor but hey, you're not here for the furniture. And if you're planning a weekend brunch, show up early: It's a favorite after-church spot for locals, with families arriving in their Sunday best.
The Food
An L.A. institution immortalized in flicks like "Swingers" and "Pulp Fiction," Roscoe's is not for the Lipator crowd: Fried chicken mixes with gravy-smothered hash browns in dishes that cardiac patients ought to avoid. Newcomers should order the Scoe's Special--chicken and waffles, of course--but return visitors should check out other soul-food staples like the giblets and rice with gravy and onions. The waffles themselves are fluffy and slightly sweet so be careful not to drench them in too much syrup and butter.
Heart attack on a plate, but worth it every once in a while. This place has really good fried chicken, waffles, corn bread, macaroni and cheese, greens, grits, eggs, lemonade, potato salad, etc.... I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all yummy. The service at times is questionable, but usually friendly. I like the ambience at the Gower location better, but this one is way larger which means the wait is usually way shorter.
User review by sandilovesdante. The fried chicken and waffles are great; the food is simple, which is the way we like it. The place gets crowded on the weekends; we try to go on the "off" peak hours.
It's ok, but southern? i don't know.... I was born and raised in Georgia, so i was expecting a lot from the famed Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, but to my dismay, it fell short of expectations. Growing up on southern food, i know what good soul food tastes like. The Chicken was actually pretty good and would get an above average rating, however, the rest of the food (side dishes and such) was well below average (hence the average rating)... Roscoe's is ok, but only if you're willing to spend some extra $$$
I Often Crave Their Chicken!.
I just moved from TX and I was introduced to this place from a friend and love it so much. Be sure to get your chicken with gravy - it's dry without it! And definitely get the waffles - to die for!
This is an amazing place that I will take friends from out of town. Please don't miss out on it!
The only downside is that it's somewhat overpriced for what you get. But I still pay the premium cuz I love it so much.
The Best Southern Cuisine. When I first heard about eating fried chicken with waffles, I thought the idea was preposterous! I was dead wrong. The crispy, juicy chicken meshes well with the gigantic warm waffles drizzled with syrup and spread with creamy butter. The mac and cheese is yummy as well! The proportions are huge so save room in your stomach before you go. I love this place! I highly recommend it.
Amazingly good!!!. I was visiting LA for a few days and wanted to try the place. I drove by the locations in LA and the neighborhoods looked scary, so we opted to take a trip to Pasadena to check it out. It was a 15 minute ride out of the city and was located in a quaint neighborhood. We were seated promptly and our fantastic waitress recommended a couple specialty drinks, mixtures of lemonade/ice tea and fruitpunch/lemonde. So good. The waffles were the best I ever tasted. Almost like funnelcakes with syrup. Scrambled eggs with onions rocked. So did the mac and cheese and cornbread. Both so good. Chicken was nice too, but I loved the sides and waffles best. Nice atmosphere, but got a bit loud with groups as it got later. Bathroom was clean. I will come back next time in LA. Soul food at it's best!
Homestyle waffles. This was the first time I ever had fresh homestyle waffles. The waffles were succulant. Definetaly putting Eggo's to shame! The mixture of Chicken, gravy, and syrup formed a trifecta of titilating taste! What a mixture! It was a manaje trois for the senses! I suggest going here on an empty tank, as you will leave as stuffed as a moose through taxidermy. The service is top notch and really made me feel at home. The only gripe was that seating was limited. The dozen people in my party had to cuddle together at a medium sized table. Thankfully the service more than made up for it!
