Why Don't More Folks Eat Here?

This is real Mississippi style food, including huge portions. I defy anyone to eat it all at one sitting unless he's a Sumo wrestler! The oxtails, short ribs, and chitlins are all well-spiced and tasty, as are the sides. The lunch specials are an especially good value. So what if it isn't your overdecorated Pasadena yuppie hangout? You can sit here as long as you want and enjoy the often lively conversations around you.

Low on Ambiance, High on Value

The restaurant wasn't much to look at & the dishware is pretty worn out, but the food was terrific and the prices are more than reasonable. Fantastic corn bread (and lots of it), 3 sides w/ every meal (huge portions, & my friends & I loved the greens, red beans & rice & mac & cheese-- I want the yams next time), fabulous sweetened tea and yummy entrees. We tried the turkey, fried chicken & oxtail. All was delicious. Servings are so large that you'll have a 2nd meal.
- Pros: great food, lots of it, great prices
- Cons: not much atmosphere, worn out dishes
