good italian food, great date place, huge portions, great family atmosphere, great customer service, good italian restaurant, big group
terrible customer service. Unfortunately I cannot comment on their food service. I tried for over a week to make a reservation for our office mixer and no one ever called me back. I finally got in touch with Susie Fisher (zuzy, suzy whatever) I'm assuming to be the manager and she was quite rude, dismissive and even sounded annoyed when I complaint that I had been leaving messages for over a week without a return call. So, our little group of 25 will not be going there. Good riddance!!!!
Buca di Beppo has Lasagn that satisfly your appetite. i just wanted to eat lasagna to satisfy my appetite, so I went for dinner and got a small order of lasagna because it was about $17.00 for it. When the waiter brought it out, I was at shocked to see the size of it. Just by looking at it made my appetite go away. It was so big and smelled so good.
great food. portions are huge. great for a family setting. the service is really pleasing and the only reason I wouldn't come back is because I don't want to have too much food. kidding aside, i love this place.
Buca is GREAT. I don't know what people are saying about there being NO complimentary bread or FREE ice-cream on birthdays, thats completely untrue. I go to Buca about once a month and its delicious. It tastes authentic and I've never not enjoyed dining there. The atmosphere is lovely and creative and the food is sincere. Some may say there food is bland, but that must mean you've never gotten the CHOPPED ANTIPASTO SALAD or the BAKED ZITI, maybe the tasty BROWNIE FUDGE SUNDAE will do the trick for you haters. PLUS EVERYTIME I GO, THEY GIVE ME A TEN DOLLAR OFF COUPON FOR MY NEXT VISIT!
Don't waste your time.
I will never understand why people knock Olive Garden, but then go here. Olive Garden is better! The alfredo sauce here is bland. The lemon caper sauce isn't as good as the extremely simple lemon caper sauce I make at home. The prosciutto is flavorless. The meatballs are spongy. The tomato sauce is watery. Sure, portions are large, but who cares if it's bad? I'd rather have smaller portions of good food, than large portions of bad food. Do yourself a favor, make spaghetti at home with tomato paste, canned tomatoes and fresh basil and you'll enjoy your food more.
Also, service was bad. Forgot one of my children's order and took forever to get watiers attention to remedy the situation.
Also, for nursing moms, the table height is at just the right height to make nursing difficult, however, wine menu on table makes a good privacy shield.
Get cozy with friends and family and enjoy an Italian feast at this loved-by-locals restaurant..
In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
Outstanding, just outstanding...
A great comfortable restaurant, an optical illusion when you first walk in because the area is small, but then they show you in, it opens up and it's just very Italian and you feel like part of the family, even if you're not Italian.
Food was terrific all around, from the bread to the incredible meatball and spaghetti.
Very well done, staff was courteous, and easily the best Italian restaurant I've been in while living in California.
If you go for dinner, I recommend having something very light for lunch so you'll have enough room to finish your meal.
Palo Alto Buca needs a NEW Manager. I had planned an 80th B'day celebration for my mother with 22 people. My fax'd information was not confirmed, no one called me to confirm my reservations or to discuss the banquet. I had to call two days before. The night of the celebration it was storming and I was told ALL 22 people had to arrive before seating us outside. Then, we had to wait over 15 mins. before having the tables set up. Once taken to the area WE WERE CRAMMED in and had to pratically climb over each other to sit down and get up. I complained to the Manager who told me he has never had a problem seating 22 people in such a manner and said 8 people should be able to sit in ONE booth. Yeah, if they were all 5 yr olds at the weight of 35 lbs! This Palo Alto Manager needs to be fired. Over $900 spent crammed and PO'd. NEVER AGAIN.
Best Italian food. Best Italian food in Pasadena, serving fine wines and dining, great customer service. Inviting atmosphere.

You know how there are two types of LA must-visit restaurants, the ones that were truly worth it and the ones that leave you wondering why in the hell they were so renowned? This is definitely the latter! Never complain about restaurants, but avoid this place!! Food decently priced ($14-20/huge plate), but tasted sort of like COLD olive garden with runny bland nasty red sauce. No complementary bread, the garlic bread was pretty good but for some reason cost about $6-7 for four little pieces.. huh? Worst was the wine: $6 house cabernet isn't supposed to be much, but it was so obviously watered down we had to buy another kind, the taste and the way it ran down the glass--shaaamelessly watered down! Waiter kindly offered to switch it out, but we just ended up paying decent wine price, $11, for a non-watered down $4 glass of wine anyway. Food pretty nasty, you can make better at home out of a jar and a box. Left wondering why I made the mistake of suggesting it :(
Pros: Cute decor. Good service. Everything else was TERRIBLE
Cons: Everything else!!
