Never thought Jamaican food was so tasty!

I finally decided to give this place a try after driving by it so many times on Fair Oaks. The exterior looks like a house and when you walk in, the inside feels cozy like you are at home.
I got there on a weeknight for an early dinner. My table was the only customers in the entire restaurant for the full duration of our meal. It made us feel special for sure.
As for the food, I ordered the jerk chicken and my fiancee ordered the special of the day which was the ox tail. I so regret not ordering the ox tail. The jerk chicken was good, but I felt that the flavors did not go through the entire chicken. The flavor was mostly on the surface. However, I did get a few bites of the ox tail and that dish was engrossed in flavor. I also loved the green chile soup and you can't go wrong with some plaintains to round out the meal. Next time, I will be ordering the ox tail (assuming they have it).

A Good Introduction to Jamaican Food

When you try a specific cuisine for the first time, you always hope it'll be good - I hate ignoring an entire range of food because my first experience was not up to par. Luckily, this was not the case with Caribbean cuisine. Kingston Cafe was my first official venture into that sort of food and let me just say: It was damn good.
All dinner entrees start with a salad with a mango relish/salsa over the top of it (which was light and fresh and a great way to start a meal) and an order of plantains and some kind of sweet bread (which was also rather nice).
