The Scene
Those craving an alternative to sprawling cattle-call day spas should visit this luxurious hideaway--the star of the Burke Williams chain. Plantation shutters, exposed-brick walls and subdued lighting contribute to a refined, unfussy vibe. Spa-goers can experience something akin to meditative nirvana while soaking in the large whirlpool tub and gazing into the flickering hurricane candles.
The Services
When it's time for your massage, body wrap, or facial, you'll be retrieved from the open, airy (and co-ed) waiting room. The common area amenities--dry sauna and steam rooms, whirlpool tub and lemon-scented "mist" room--are full-sized, despite being nestled into the small space. Sink into a comfy recliner chair to receive a manicure or pedicure in the nail salon. Claustrophobics will want to skip the tiny hair salon.

Insider Tips
ParkingCity lots are free for the first 90 minutes and charge $2 per hour after that. The daily maximum is $6. Two city lots are both a stone's throw from the spa at 33 East Green St and 45 S Delacey Ave.

I first went to Burke Williams of Pasadena for a birthday present from my wife, and I was incredibly impressed by their service and beautiful facilities. Then, when I wanted to schedule a return visit during the day on Saturdays, I was prevented to do so due to a "Women's Only" policy that includes taking over the Men's spa. Thinking it was only a once-in-a-while happening, I tried again a few weeks later, only to discover that it is a regular policy to prevent men from using any of the facilities between 9am and 6pm on Saturdays. What's more, they refuse a price break for the man in pain wishing a treatment but being forced to change in a public bathroom without access to any of the "spa" facilities. In my opinion, this policy is utterly ridiculous and completely prevents me and my golf buddies from going for a massage because we work during the week. Why would Saturday be a women-only day? Do men never feel back pain or stress on Saturdays? Please men, for the priniple of it, do not use their services until they change this unfortunately policy.
Pros: Beautiful facilities, great staff
Cons: Terrible anit-men policies

If you want to spend money to come to a teaching spa, this is it. The young lady who was my aesthetician was very unsure of herself and kept asking me for direction. The experience was strange and uneventful.
Pros: Neighborhood
Cons: Skill
