Yuppie pool hall meets sporty dive bar at this subterranean Old Town hang..
The Scene
Only a short jaunt down Mills Alley from its parent burger joint--Old Town's beloved Jake's--this basement bar is also a Pasadena favorite. Falling somewhere between a major pool hall and local watering hole, the bar's spacious feel complements the laid-back mentality of its patrons. Neon beer signs and motorcycles on display add an edgier touch to the already amalgamated atmosphere.
The Draw
Pool hall junkies, sports fans, college kids and the after-work throngs all regularly enjoy cheap drinks during happy hour. Monday Night Football is featured on three big screens around the bar, where a boisterous crowd of friends and singles gathers on weekends. The 15 pool tables--all well maintained--are rarely occupied by sharks, but rather couples on dates who will politely wait their turn when two tables' cues get close. An '80s and '90s jam-packed jukebox, various arcade games, and munchies from the full upstairs menu satisfy any remaining hankerings.
