Famous egg salad sandwich is well balanced, salads are fresh, and salted caramel macaron is lovable.
Seriously??? Best of?? – I am mystified as to why this bakery has so many good reviews...it's OK and overpriced. Since I live in Pasadena I made it a point to go to the bakery and was charged a small fortune for a croissant and coffee. I'm not saying it's awful - but I feel the best places are the ones that you would drive out of your way to go to and this isn't the place. I failed to see the specialness about the place.
It was so good I wanted to cry! – Absolutely the best and freshest ingridients. It's just sad that this seems to be the only decent bakery outside of Europe in LA!
best lemon bars, brioche, egg salad – "fen" dunno what he-she is talkin' about. everything is fresh and delicious. blueberries are my favorite and i love how she (owner) incorporates blueberries in a lot of her pastries. brioche (pistachio/hazelnut/chocolate are the best in my opinion) are only made on weekends - if you're lucky on Thursdays. also HOMEMADE Oreos that put Oreos themselves to shame.
::drooling:: just at the thought...
ordinary bakery – I had a high expectations before trying it, but it turned out to be a very orginary bakery with plain decor .. there are many other cafe houses are more enjoyable than this one ....
So Yummy – The pastries are the best in LA. I am always craving Euro Pane. I love the egg sandwich! The squash quiche is also very yummy.
A Special little bakery/cafe – The former LaBrea Bakey pastry chef continues to show why her quality is the best in Pasadena & probably one of the best in the country. Egg & chicken salad sandwiches & lemon bars are easy to get wrong, but EuroPanes are the best I've tasted. Cinammon rolls are hard to beat too. Her current service staff are all good without any attitude. Not cheap--but not expensive either--this is Quality. Like coffee? They have the best regular & decaf I've tried in the area. You can really taste the difference compared to most other coffee. One customer told me she comes weekly from Camarillo just for Europane! My luck, I'm just across the street. My only regret is Sumi hasn't opened another location.
Way too expensive for what it is! – OK, I had lunch here during work once, and felt ripped off for what I got. ONE sandwich + a tiny salad (which was alright, not anything spectacular), cost me over $6.00! I don't know about anyone else, but $6 is too much for lunch, unless I'm getting a meal that I can take 1/4 of it home. I got the sandwich on regular french bread, which was horribly dry and hard. It was uncomfortable trying to eat it. The ambience was just ok..not too warm or inviting. I think I'd feel differently if their food was actually tasty. Maybe I'll try something else. I hear their desserts are great, but have you SEEN the portion size compared to the price? They're bite-sized, but cost $2. I know I sound like a cheapskate right now. I just like to get what I pay for, or more. This wasn't satisfying.
Rasperry and Blueberry muffins are delicious! – I get their muffins on my way to work each day, and I have never tasted anything better. My co-workers agree!
Homey bakery with to-die-for chocolate croissants and lemon bars. – The Scene
Line up alongside the near-fanatical followers who swear by this hole-in-the-wall bakery. With sunny decor, as well as a few tables and chairs strewn about, it's the perfect place for Cal Tech students and faculty and nearby neighbors. Service is always friendly and helpful.
Sumi Chang cut her chops at La Brea Bakery's cafe, helping to perfect the croissant and, indeed, Euro Pane's croissants melt in the mouth. One taste of the chocolate croissant will release your French inner child: flaky, buttery, light layers of pastry surround an intense, bittersweet chocolate filling. The lemon bars are super citrusy, and the ginger scones zip up any boring English tea. Sandwiches like the dill-laced yogurt-chicken salad or the unsurpassed egg salad--velvety soft eggs, not quite hard-boiled, mixed with homemade mayo and mounded on sourdough toast--are always winners. It's worth showing up early for the flaky quiche filled with caramelized onions and kabocha squash.
Quite good but overpriced – This is Pasadena, not the West Side. We're used to getting real value. Euro Pane is excellent, but not a great value.
