Unsatisfactory. Unsatifactory work. Patch sewn on jacket was crooked and had to take elsewhere to have sewn correctly. Also, the bad work was not finished when promised - had to go back 3 times.
Unreal. I'm never one to do something this drastic but I feel that people should know. The man is very nice like all the reviews say but I feel for the last review regarding the wedding dress. Not only did it not fit the 3rd time. he charged me a lot of money and did not tell me till the end. Also my friend got a suit altered and he charged him more than the cost of the suit and it was the most terrible job. the pants were ruined. This guy should be reported. I appreciate honest and hard working people who earn the money we pay not a rip off artist who schemes you at the end of the job.
Friendly "service". I had to get a dress altered for a wedding recently. I had to go back 3 times and it still didn't fit right in the end. The man was really nice, but the alterations were horrible, quite frankly.
First rate men's tailoring. I have been going to academy tailors for over ten years. I will not rate his ability to be a seamstress, but what I can tell you is that he is an expert men's tailor. He will take your measurments quickly and accurately, and transfer those to multiple itrems you bring in. Need cuffs placed on pants - done. Need a jacket taken in, or sleeves adusted - done. And done correctly every time on over 50 items at a minimum. The best I have ever used. And, nice service, nice manner, and a fair price.
Exceptional Tailor. I recently went to Academy Tailor to have a dress altered for a wedding. The service was incredible. Noe is friendly and courteous and the customer service is unparalleled. My dress was finished within a few days and the price was extremely reasonable for the services rendered. In addition, upon completion, my dress fit perfectly and showed no signs of alterations. I highly recommend Academy Tailors and will continue being a patron of this establishment.
Dress alteration. Recently had dress altered here. Large alteration -- had to come down at least 2 sizes. Work was pretty good -- I would say slightly above average.
Best Tailor EVER!!. I totally disagree with the two reviewers who gave Academy Tailor such bad reviews. Noe, the proprietor, is amazing and knows how to wield needle and thread. I've entrusted my clothing to him since the summer I had to get a bridesmaid dress two sizes too big altered just three weeks before an out-of-town wedding (that was 3 yrs ago)... after reading the first reviewer's commentary on his altering prowess (with a similar bridesmaid dress situation), I took a chance and drove the dress out to Pasadena. I'm so glad I did! Noe not only came through, but turned the dress I previously hated into a spectacular form-fitting piece that i was excited to wear and felt uber-sexy in. He's never disappointed me, and always has a cheery greeting and smile for you when you walk in his shop. I only wish he was closer to Hollywood so I didn't have to drive out to Pasadena!! :)
Great work, great service!. I took a very special dress here with some worry, despite a personal recommendation, after reading the last two reviews here. I have to say that I did not find the work overpriced, a good job was done, very promptly, and the proprietor is a VERY nice guy. Perhaps the last two reviewers are not used to LA prices. I'd definitely take any tailoring work here in the future.
I will not go here again.. I used City Search to find this shop, because Im new to the CA area. I dropped off three items to have the sleeve length brought down. When I went to pick my stuff up They charged me $80 dollars to only drop the hem line 1" on each of the three items. Not to mention they only take cash. So, I had to leave, go get cash and come back. One of the three items was a very expensive suit I just bought, and the coat is actually ruined now because the sleeves were taken down too far. It is also wrecked because the material was stretched out somehow in the lengthening process. Now the sleeves are too long and they bell out. I know that tailoring something is risky, and can cost some money. However, $80 was a bit ridiculous. In my home town the same service would have costed 50 at most and would have been done sooner then one week.
Not too happy. The man is nice, but pricing is too high for what is being done. I brought in a couple things to be fixed, and was charged quite a bit. If you have the money to burn, this is the place that will burn it.
