view & uploadbest garlicky chicken, good filling food, delish garlic sauce, great falafel wraps, worst service, great falafels, great price
disgusting. OMG! The food is horrible, the employees need to be tested for Drugs, and it is the most disgusting floors and chairs they have. I had the chicken plate and I can't explain how sick I got. NEVER AGAIN.
Yummy garlic sauce. The food is pretty good. I would stick with Chicken. It's pretty juicy. dont' like the kabobs :P
Best chicken and hummus anywhere. Zankou is addictive! The chicken, hummus and garlic sauce is the best I have found. Once you have tried Zankou's chicken, you will crave it. I don't think I could live anywhere that wasn't within 25 miles of a Zankou. Hopefully they will open more restaurants.
Armenian roasted chicken that's finger-licking good..
The Scene
Zankou Chicken isn't much to look at: a narrow slice in an unremarkable strip mall. But the glowing critical accolades Zankou has garnered--blown up, framed and proudly displayed--foreshadow fabulous fare that will quickly make you forget the orange Formica and faux-wood paneled ambiance.
The Food
Spit-roasted chicken attracts most of the attention, and deservedly so. Tender, moist and permeated with flavor, it's rotisserie roasted to crisp perfection. But the rest of the menu easily meets or beats the bird. Soujouk is an Armenian beef sausage that takes the term spicy to new heights--not simply hot, it's a marvelous melange of fiery flavors combined with subtler nuances. The tarna sandwich (chunks of spit roasted chicken slices) much milder though no less complex. Then there are the sides--tabbouleh, hummus, zippy stuffed grape leaves and a divinely addictive mutabbal (baba ghanouj).
The first Z for me!. I was first introduced to this Zankou many years ago. I loved coming here for a $4 lunch. Their garlic sauce is soooo good! I've been to many other Zankou locations but this one will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first time I experienced the yellow tshirts and rotisserie chicken!
Two Garlicky Thumbs Up. It was fortunate that Zankou Chicken was literally steps away from my school. It saved me many a times from the mystery meat the school cafeteria called "chicken nuggets". For less than $7, I was able to feast on a healthy delicious meal. It's been more than a decade since I graduated, but Zankou in Glendale (and now in Burbank!) is still my go-to place for the best rotisserie chicken in the world. The best thing on the menu is their 1/4 white meat chicken meal which comes with 2 pcs. of pita bread, garlic sauce (the best darn sauce in the world), hummus, and some pickled veggies with tomatoes and chili peppers. Service, however, is wee-bit iffy... like the SoupNazi on Seinfeld. But then again, I don't really care. I can handle a small amount of attitude in exchange for some o' that garlic sauce and chicken. If you want better service and ambience, go to the Burbank branch. They're friendlier and the restaurant itself is far, far away from the strip-mall decor the Glendale and Sunset restaurants have.
better then sex. as long as you don't plan on having any after you eat there. this is the best chicken sandwich you can get. i drove there from sf just to eat there. i want to move to la just for zankou chicken. please open one up in san francisco!!
Original Charbroil & Rotisserie. They have more than chicken, the Shawerma Beef plate is full of sliced char beef...delicious!!! They have many sandwiches too - Falafel or Shawerma. It's a great place to eat and right on the money.
Yummmyyy. I have to say Zankou has the best Chicken Tarna sandwich. Everything is good there and the price is great. I would recommend anyone in the pasadena, glendale, van nuys, anaheim or hollywood area to visit zankou for a fast and great meal. The garlic is by far the greatest!
Finger Lickin' Good. What KFC? Go to Zankou chicken where the food is delicious, fresh, and sure to make your mouth water. My personal favorite is the 1/4 white meat chicken plate, but the tarna(chicken) and shawerma (beef) sandwiches are to die for as well. The restaurant itself is not much to look at, but trust me, you'll be so glad you went.
