good food, very enjoyable steak, like bbq, unacceptable grove location, professional servers, good attentive service, great dinner
Nice Place!. The service was great very firendly and didnt let my drink go empty like most places before they refilled me! Loved the food and resonable prices! def. will e returning!
Better than your own - sorry Dad. The servers are professional and attentive. The food is outstanding! I'd recommend one of their salads, while my husband would recommend a meat dish. Our kids love the kid-sized portions - especially the mac-n-cheese. It's a nice place to celebrate a special occasion.
This is highly reccomended!. This is a high quality place to have a good dinner. It has very very very good food & drinks & appetizers & the bread is so well made & fresh too. The little bread buns has garlic on it, and thats why it tastes so good. The dessert is the bomb! That's the high quality stuff, and everything you get there is mouth-watering food, that you can eat for hours & hours. This is so well done that I give this restaurant five stars & its very very very highly quality reccomended stuff.
Excellent Food. Wood Ranch has VERY good barbeque and drinks...it has more of a sportsy feel to it...I would recommend this as a place to hang out with your friends and get a good meal...gets REALLY crowded during the holidays.
Gracious service and family atmosphere are the main draws at this local barbecue chain..
In Short
This isn't a typical barbecue joint, and the vibe and food are anything but rustic. Inside, families and couples at large booths and tables feast on mesquite-grilled BBQ in a modern, earth-toned setting. Slow-roasted meats, such as baby-back ribs and chicken, dominate the moderately-priced menu, but crowd-pleasers also include the 15-ounce Kansas City Strip, freshwater Idaho trout and balsamic shrimp. If that doesn't trip the trigger, Certified Angus Beef burgers and mile-high salads are other options.
Decent BBQ. I've been to the Agoura Hills and Moorpark locations for lunch and dinner. I'd recommend reservations for dinner. The decor is reminiscent of a "ranch / cowboy" style with hardwood tables and chairs. Ambiance reminds me of BJs (casual) but for BBQ, which can be loud at times. The BBQ tri tip is not top notch. Having gone to school up in San Luis Obispo for college, there is nothing that beats Santa Maria tri tip (hint: Mo's has the best tri-tip, in my opinion with Firestone's at close second). Wood Ranch tri tip can be dry at times with little or no taste. Other than that, the chopped salads either chicken or tri-tip is decent. This place is not worth the "9" rating it currently has. I would rate this around a 7 or 8, at best. I'm critical of BBQ / Grill places considering of all the BBQ'ing and grilling I've done in college and having eaten at some of the best BBQ places in California - "hole in the wall" places included.
Nice Place and Great Food!. I have to say: Anyone that would give this place a bad rating is an idiot! We and all of our friends have benn going there since it opened and it's great EVERYTIME! Go there hungry, order a dozen free rolls, drink a 20 oz beer, and have a great dinner. Thats what Im Talking about! Top it off with a mud pie, and your ready to go! GOOD FOOD!
Awful BBQ. Horrible, bottled tasting sauce that lacks smoke and is too sticky and sweet. The food is so uneventful and commercialized that I cannot, for the life of me, understand why it is always so packed. I guess these people have no idea what real, hole-in-the-wall BBQ should taste like!
Horsecrap. I couldn't believe my experience with this restaurant. I told our waitress it was my birthday. Fine. I ordered tri-tip medium rare and a sam adams (it was my 21st). She came back and said she was out of sam adams (supposedly on tap). I said fine, just give me some beer, whatever you have. She came back 20 minutes later and told me that she was also out of tri-tip. This is when I asked to speak to a manager because I wasn't about to drink a beer I didn't want and be refused the supposed specialty. How can you run out of tri tip? Why would you tell me you have them and then come back 20 minutes later and tell me you are out? She refused to get a manager and I paid for the beer I didn't drink and left. I suggest not attending this restaurant.
