Known as the largest private non-profit no-kill rescue organization in SoCal, Pet Adoption Fund is staffed primarily by volunteers, and exists solely on private donations and adoption fees. Dedicated to rescuing, providing shelter and finding loving permanent homes for abandoned, neglected or abused animals, the group emphasizes its senior and physically challenged dogs. On average, the facility houses around 175 dogs and 60 cats, all of whom are anxiously awaiting for their chances to live out their lives in a loving home.

After searching online at petfinder for a puppy to adopt my boyfriend and I fell in love with a puppy up for adoption at PET ADOPTION FUND in Canoga Park. We travelled to P.A.F. on 05/24/2011 to inquire on the puppy in question and after being informed that he was still available for adoption, we were given some time to spend with the puppy. My boyfriend and I were so excited that we had found our puppy. So, on 05/24/2011, we signed a contract to adopt the puppy, and wrote two checks for $100 each coming to a total of $200. We were then informed that we needed to have a home check before taking our puppy home, the check was scheduled for 3pm on 05/26/2011. At 2pm on 05/26/2011 P.A.F. informed my girlfriend and I that they gave the puppy to an employee that lives on the property. The checks were "destroyed", and we never saw our puppy again.
