Best in LA or anywhere for that matter!

Born and raised in NY - This place has the best bread, sauce, cold cuts, and staff (family!) in the entire West! NO ONE in LA even comes close. The Roberto family is just amazing. Warm, friendly, generous, and the food is simply amazing. Whether you try their baked goods especially the bread, or homemade meals, or the sandwhiches you just cant go wrong. I am fortunate to travel ALL the time and was raised in NY in an Italian family that (of course) prides itself in great food. I love this place as does my entire family. AND everyone I have brought here has been equally impressed.

Pasquale, Giovanni and Isabella and their staff are the reason this place is so good and they have the best Italian deli in the Western United States. Period.

Best Italian Deli West of the Hudson

Reminds ex-New Yorkers of home. This place gives you Great food, served by warm people. Boar's Head brand cold cuts, fresh mozzarella, Cannoli, and their bread are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to good eats. Cops and fireman know the best places and you will see them there.

Better than most, but not the best.

I have not tried the Italian dishes at San Carlo. I'm strictly speaking sandwiches here.,

San Carlo offers some of the best sandwiches in the valley. Both their hot and cold varieties are far above and beyond anything you will get at any of the major sandwich chains. They also beat out most Italian restaurants. I recommend the San Carlo Special if you like cold cuts, and the meatball with provolone or mozzarella if your into something hot.

What makes a sandwich is the bread. Fresh baked, homemade bread is the only way to go. San Carlo does this right and offers a crispy or soft roll.

Another place across town in Granada Hills also offers a crispy or soft roll for their sandwiches, and is the only place that beats San Carlo. The Italia Bakery and Deli is the king. Their hard, crispy roll is the best bread I have ever tasted. San Carlo attempts Italia's recipe but doesn't quite get it right.

Like San Carlo, I recommend the meatball with cheese and the Italian cold cut - only on a crispy hard roll.

It's strange how much these two deli's are alike. They have identical menus, their bread is similar. Mr. San Carlo claims to be related to the Italia family but I believe he is pulling my leg.

Best eggplant parm in SoCal!

Easily one of the best and most authentic Italian deli's in Los Angeles. I hail from a large Italian family and grew up in Jersey, so, as you can imagine, I know good Italian food when I see it! Many times, a restaurant's tomato sauce is what separates it from good and great...make no mistake, this place has AMAZING red sauce. The eggplant parm is PERFECT and, at $6.99, is both affordable and sizable (feeds two people).

If you're looking for great pasta and subs, look no further...worth the drive if you're outside Chatsworth!

worth the drive

This place is located in a shopping center. It,s a small family deli but BIG!! on food. The hot and cold selections are equally good. Bread baked on site, during the week there is a speical for lunch be it pasta ,sandwich with a drink 5$-6$ you will be stuft!
